you might be right about the RENAULT mechanic .. ..although I would rather see them having a temperature issue with that wheelnut. After all it happened for the 2nd time after BUDAPEST, maybe too much heat produced by the Intermediates in drying up conditions. Thankfully FERNANDO this time watched his mirrors otherwise he would have had his 3rd DNF...

Re.JENSON you have a strong opinion you cant really prove. Compared to RUBENS he dominates him as much as MICHAEL did(nobody crying teamorders here due to less exposure/antipathy ). JENSON is doing great in a second rate car ever since he came into F1. You should be able to admit he never really had a winning package.

As for MARK, he is another gifted driver who arguably shows rather less than JENSON all the time

The SHANGHAI GP certainly proved the discussion about MICHAEL(=driver of the day, of course) doing more mistakes under pressure to belong to the "realm of droppings"

FIG, JB is the No1 driver in the team. Simple as that. If Honda don't win with him, the "loss of face' will be excruiatiating.

Another race to remember! This season is turning out to be a great one!

It is a shame Alonso didn't win but he came back like no other after that bungled pit stop. He made up more than 20 seconds.
Michael drove well but Renault gave the race away.
But Alonso recovered remarkably and was clearly the fastest/best driver out there so naturally he gets my vote! At no stage did he settle for second, something he could have done easily. I wonder if someone would go find all the fastests laps this time and tell us how many belonged to Alonso ? He'll be on top in the wet and the dry!

I can start drawing up/beleiving conspiracy theories but I won't. Alonso was just unlucky the last few races. Last year, there were a few bungled stops with Fisichella. These things happen.

Alonso continues to demonstrate what he is made of and what he is capable of doing. Bring on Japan and Brazil, his luck can't get any worse, remember that had he won in Hungary and finished 3rd in Italy (both dnf's beyond his control) he would be 16 points ahead and the championship would have been in the bag.

But for the sake of excitement, it is closer but Alonso will win it anyway.

Other drivers worth mentioning, Button for coming on top in the last lap!, Heidfeld for his inability to lap backmarkers, Raikkonen for his bad luck and Webber for scoring a point for Williams (the first since the the Nurburguring 11 races ago !)

Glad that Michael won so we hear from you again F1greyhound. I don't dissapear when Alonso doesn't finish or finishes second. It is never in my character to hide.

On Button vs Barrichello, it seems that they are similar. I expected Barrichello to be better on the wet but he wasn't. The two were fighting with each other the whole race!

Sato was disqualified. Big deal.

Great Race,Great Drives,Great finishes!!

With the conditions in the race only 2 drivers impressed me i.e. Michael & Webber,purely on the basis of their drives in an inferior wet tyre!!

Most on track overtaking with inferior tyres in the wet conditions were done by these 2 guys...simply fantastic

Fisi played a superb teammate by defending Alonso for atleast 2 laps especially on the back straight,from Michael's clutches which was commendable.Never have i seen such driving style to defend ur teammate.Fantastic Fisco!

Alonso,must be kicking himself for making a wrong tyre choice at the first pit,his face said it all n getting overtaken on track by Michael was even worse.I think Alonso has acted emotionally in the last 10-12 laps by trying to show he & his car can go faster by setting blinding fastest laps...for no gains...instead putting his engine on strain for the next race.Fisi would have let him go whenever he turned up in his mirrors.A constalation price for having the fastest car in dry & in wet!!

Nick was the most unlucky.Button was OK.

This championship can still go either way,i think

It was a good race to watch with battles throughout the field. MS gets my driver of the day. In the end he seemed to be driving only as fast as he needed to win the race.

Roll on Japan.

After a long break I finally got to see an F1 race Rather enjoyable race I think. Here's my two cents:
MSC - Nothing spectacular but did just enough to win. Smart fella.
ALO - Solid racing at the beginning and towards the end. Only if his mechanics were to match him.
FIS - Good but not special enough to make him win.
RAI - Unlucky or pushing too hard? If Ferraris start breaking down with Kimi on the helm we'll know.
KUB - Continues to impress.
WEB - Another DC in the making?
RSC & TRU - Cursed couple (halfway the race they start cursing too I am sure)
BAR & BUT - Pity they fail to do better. It'd add quite a bit of excitement to the race.

Hi Julian I'm going to take issue with you on this one too.
If as you and a number of commentators are correct that Jenson's style of driving doesn't suit a less than perfect or perfectly set up car how has he maintained such consistent results over the past three years compared to his team mates? Ruben's was completely at sea at the start of the season suggesting that the RA106 was a less than perfect car. However Jenson qualified on the front row and well in several races. And was undone only by the pace car in Melbourne. I put it to you that Jenson's ability to overcome changeable conditions undermines any myth you can drag out that Jenson's abilities are less than first rank. Perhaps Ruben's has given Jenson a run for his money this season but only occassionally suggesting that Jenson doesn't actually need a spruce goose to perform at the top level.

Fair enough. He managed to get from 14th to 8th. That is quite an accomplishment. Still in the last stages he had to defend that position against DC's attacks. A Williams with a driver like Webber should have outrun DC driving an RBR car. He would have gotten my vote too if he had passed Heidfeld and finished in the Button-DLR-Barrichello group. Then again my expectancy might be a tad high
