All right mates! This will have to be a brief response because it's time to put in me picks for Japan. But I was happy to see you're all still watching the races and seeing through your team colors enough to make interesting remarks and snipe at one another in a way that keeps us all awake.
As to conspiracy theories, I think it was JayVee who imagined Ferarri paying off Fernando's Right Rear Wheel man! Fantastico and one that made me burst out laffing. If it wasn't you, Jay Vee, I apologize. I only mention this because I love conspiracy theories as they apply to the red cars but to no one else.
Anyway, the funniest thing of all for me was Fisi's post race comment. Nobody (as far as my quick reccon this morning) mentioned the brilliant 'spin' in his comments (maybe because now a days the only reasonable response to ANYTHING Fisi says or does is a big yawn?). He said that when he came out with his new tyres he had to go "wide" and so Michael was "able to slip by him." I can say because I taped the race and I watched that particular over-taking manoeuvre about six times that Fisi did ANYTHING but go "wide." Indeed he tried to shut the door on Michael and drove the red car almost completely into the grass! That pass would be the reason I would give Michael the drive of the day, because he very easily, at that stage of the race, on slicks, could have lost everything then. Instead, he caught the car, kept the throttle open and pulled away, presumably driing his tyres as he did so.
What occurred to me then was, "Man. If that had been Michael shutting the door and Fisi or Fernando forced onto the grass, we'd have had howls of protest and screaming fits of Ferrari Favoritism from all the Blue Car Fans.
I was happy to see the Webbo do well and I am VERY much a fan of Kubica. I am, I have to say, beginning to think that JB may be, as a driver, Fisi-light, but by this time next year that should be settled. However that comes out, Jenson is, himself, a very good chap and I'm sure it is fun to party with him. I do miss the Mansell style muscular racing. Even Kimi isn't as terrifying as the old Nige at his best! Hamilton may take over for Pedro, but I think, in a race where he made the number two Ferrari driver (what's his name, again?) eat his spray, we can't say he's all that bad.
I'm off to pick Fernando to win again (because JayVee still hasn't offered to pay me off to pick Michael and, consequently, jinx him). What I actually hope for is Kimi to win, Kubica to place, and Nico to show... and for Fernando to take Michael out while being passed by the red machine.
Cheerio, Jim
