Yeah, I agree. Why him if he was happily retired? I'd rather see young drivers have a go instead of Hakkinen reliving old days at others' expense.

I think once you have left you should stay left. Unless you are forced out by politics or injury but if you decide to retire that is different.

Echoing my thoughts again.

This bit of news/rumor will take a little explaining, so bear with me.......
According to multiple sources(autoracing1.com and speedtv.com), Scuderia Toro Rosso has offered a test session this week at Jerez to 3-time ChampCar series titleist Sebastien Bourdais, which SeaBass has accepted with the blessings of Newman-Haas Racing, the team for which Bourdais drives for in North America. That much is fact; here's the rumor part.............
Here's the two speedtv.com stories if anyone's interested......
www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formulaone/34389/
www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formualone/34394/
The first story mentions Bourdais' upcoming test; the second story talks about the possibility that, according to STR's Gerhart Berger, either Tonio Liuzzi or Scott Speed could lost their rides for 2007. Apparently, rumor has it that Berger is still trying to bring in more sponsorship for Toro Ross in 2007, and that the team has been talking to several drivers from other teams, most notably' Narain Karthikeyan(Williams), Tiago Montiero(Spyker) and Robert Doornbos(Red Bull).
My question.....I thought Toro Rosso had already found enough money to take care of sponsorship issues for 2007; could they still be looking?

Who knows... After all they are the only team who has not confirmed the driver lineup (apart from Spyker's #2 seat of course). Same deal could go with their sponsorship deals. On top of that Berger said that he wants Hakkinen to drive for STR. If nothing else Toro Rosso folks like to muddy up the waters for sure...

There has been a very strong rumour since September, that Scott Speed would be staying at home after Xmas

True. Reliability has not been a major issue. So, he should have scored a few points at least.

Rumor has it that Bridgestone is going to supply Ferrari with free race tyres whereas other teams are to pay $5 mil. Is there any truth to that?

League style with promotions and relegations. Even a playoff at the end of the season among the top 4 teams.

That is an idea from Max but the F1 budgets have to be stabilised first to make this a reality I don't think anything like this will happen in the next 5 years.
