Evening, barkeep........how are things going?

Anyway.....even though its' next Saturday, the biggest rivalry in all of American college football returns as the Black Knights of the U.S. Military Academy(a/k/a Army) square off against the Midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy(a/k/a Navy). It is, quite simply, the best rivalry in college football. :duel: :duel:

Why, you might ask? A couple of reasons come to mind.............
1--Unlike most every other rivalry in college football, where bowl games or national championships are potentially at stake, both Army and Navy usually aren't in position to win a national title, so for them, it is simply knowing that you played the game at 10/10ths' for all 60 minutes(it is one of the oldest rivalries in American sports, which counts as well.........)
2--The traditions of the game are also worth watching as well; at the end of every Army-Navy game, all the cadets and midshipmen from both academies sing the others' 'alma maters'(i.e. their school song) while the players from each team stand facing the others' students as a sign of respect
3--the biggest reason is, unfortunately, the most somber........especially for the senior class(a/k/a "first classmen") since, unless either school is headed to a bowl game, it is their final competitive football game(as a condition of attending either service academy, students must fulfill a 5-year service committment upon graduating)   .......it can be especially be even more somber during times of war, for some of those seniors you see walking off the field might not return from their service committments............. :( :(

All I know, barkeep......is that I plan on watching the game over in the VIP Tower next Saturday, so don't be surprised if you see me raise toasts to the teams during the game............oh, and also don't be surprised if you hear me yell at the top of my lungs.................

GO NAVY!!!! BEAT ARMY!!!!! :horn: :horn: :knight: :knight: :duel: :duel: :duel: :box: :box: :argue: :argue:

P.S. Barkeep.....make sure there's plenty of food and drinks during the game, ok?

Congratulations on the championship, T-K.........
Remember, though....its' merely the first step in what all of us hope is a long, successful racing career...... :burnout: :burnout:

As to what we had to sell to pay off your bar tab(..........I still can't believe how much it was, though......   ), I don't know what everyone else sold, but here's a short list of the things I parted with from the Idiots Bar to help defray your bar tab.......
--several bar steins(three Patrick steins w/the Argent colors on them from 2005-2006, two Midshipmen steins[.....GO NAVY!!.......well, the Army-Navy game is next Saturday......   ] and three Harrington steins[those are the ones with the sci-fi imagery on them; go over to the Off-Season Trivia, round 1 thread over in the Trivia section and scroll down until you see some cover art from the David Weber novel Honor Among Enemies.....that's one of two different cover art images on the steins! :)  The other is from another Weber novel, Echoes of Honor....read some of Weber's books if you get the chance, T-K! 8) :) ]
--two copies of Sports Illustrated from early June 2005(those are the ones w/Danica Patrick on the cover right after Indy that year!)
--one rebulit WWII-era Catalina PBY(with what looks like bullet holes in them.......    )

I think that about covers it.............

As to the seat..............I believe that seat's yours, T-K, in about, oh, a couple of more years........ 8) 8) :)
