The album it is almost ready. Jacques says this on his site

"The album is finished now and we're just deciding on the final track order. It should be available in the next few months. Will make sure all the news appears here though so you'll be first to know how and where to get hold of it"

If the album will not be released why would he say this ?

It really is the off season :(
No need to defend him. I agree that he has to spend time with his family and all. And I think the album will be released eventually. But you know how it works. When you advertise something you gotta deliver it timely. After quite a bit of hype and excitement he kept putting it off. By the time he actually releases the album people will have almost forgotten about it.
gkaytaz, what are you talking about ? The album wasn't advertised, he didn't keep putting it off, you are making it sound like a Microsoft release!!

He did intially say that he plans or intends to release an album later in the year. I never saw a firm date nor did I read or hear anything about Jacques kept putting it off. (and unlike many I do regularly visit his two websites)

I don't bother responding to the others who commented on Jacques cause I know what the think. I guess now I'll add you to that list :(

i had read somewhere (I thought it was on his website) that he had planned to have the album out by Christmas. However he is now a new father and I am sure the album will be available soon.
I am looking forward to hearing it. :D :D :D

Well, have it your way then. I just speak my mind. Here are some facts for you:
First of all advertisement does not mean to run a commercial on CNN or BBC. It was a known fact that he had announced his work last year and recorded the album tracks during the winter, Xmas of 2005 to be precise (check grandprix.com if you wish).
About 6 months later he released the first song of the album at the Canadian GP weekend, which was June 25th. At that time he said on his own website (contrary to what you think other people too read his official webpage and myspace site) that the album was set to be released later in summer, which happens to be June thru August in my book (unless of course he was talking about the Australian summer; doubtful).
Few weeks after Hockenheim (late September) he posted another message apologizing for his silence and said that due to the baby coming in November he was gonna spend some time with friends and family. Also said, I quote "it's basically done, the design too". Only mastering, and off to the stores. That's a bit over 9 months after the recording was done.
Another two months have passed and he's yet to decide on the track order.
I like his racing ability and musical talent as much as the next guy but I also gotta accept that his album has been delayed quite a bit now.

Ok I am glad you check his websites

Yes he made the album around Christmas but then he said once testing for the 2006 season started he couldn't spend time on it any more.

Then the BMW thing, the marriage and the baby would have delayed things further and I am sure figuring out the best way to release an album isn't the simplist thing (well known artists have done miserably at times)

So for a number of reasons he delayed the release however a release date was never set nor was it advertised and that is my point.
Those eager to listen to his album will give him the time he needs. Those who won't won't listen anyway!

Keep in mind that in one of those interviews on his site he described his work on the album as a 'hobby'.

And unless he comes up with the money to drive in NASCAR people will soon forget about him too.....
That is a bit nasty. Ayrton Senna died in '94 and no one has forgotten him. Stirling Moss never won a WDC and he is still remembered ... and quite fondly. You are entitled to your opinion but to denegrate everything he has done and say he will not be remembered is ridiculous in the extreme.

Fresh in from Canadian press:
JV has failed to raise 18 mil necessary for his NASCAR adventure. He might not be able to race coming season.

That is amazing. I would have thought he would be able to raise that. Just shows how fickle the industry is.

Happy new year everyone :D

I just read some great news for Villeneuve fans this morning!

Jacques Villeneuve will race in the 24hr Le Mans race for the Peugeot team. Peugeot will have 2 cars, one driven by Villeneuve/Lamy/Gene and the other driven by Bourdais/Sarrazin/Minassian.

From the BBC (news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/6247391.stm)

I never followed the 24hr Le Mans closely in the past. This year I will :super: :woohoo: :twinb:

Great new emoticons too

Jacques' long awaited album has been released in Canada (I think it was released last month.) At this stage it is not available in Australia.
