While a compromise hasn't been found yet, FOTA and the FIA appear to be continuing their discussions. Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali was quoted as saying

... for the moment we prefer not to go into further detail, given we are in discussion with the FIA

And that is a good sign

Well, it looks like we have only a few days left, of F1 as we know it

Mad Max has decided that the FOTA teams demands are "unrealistic......

He reckons the FIA makes the rules, and will continue to do so.
Ah well, the Gulargembone billy cart races are on this monday, they can be quite entertaining, and cheap.

......) is on the right side of the issue. I'll quote something I said back on page 4 of this thread...............

One of the problems I've noticed in motorsports for years is the continued increase in the costs to the teams in competing, not just in Formula 1 but in many major series across the board. If keeping those costs in check to some degree means instituting some sort of budget cap, so be it. Teams come and go in every major series and if FOTA doesn't want to play in the F1 sandbox by the rules set by Sado-Max and Co., then why should the FIA yield?

Because the FIA charter was to police the rules, not make them, and that, I believe, is the real core of the issue.

While I hope the two sides can agree on a solution, I think Max Mosley has gone too far here and if he steps down, the whole crisis would be diffused.
Both parties have the same 'declared' aim and that is cutting costs. Isn't it amazing that the whole sport may collapse just because the two parties are in disagreement on how to cut costs.

It is turning into a political game and the FIA don't want a strong FOTA and so almost anything that FOTA comes up with is opposed or reluctantly accepted.

Less than six months ago, a joint statement by the FIA and FOTA started with "FIA and FOTA have had the most successful meeting on Formula One matters which any of the participants can remember"

What happened since ? That's what my next article will look into.

Well, good old Max has basically said the FOTA teams can go organise their own championship, as long as it conforms to all the safety regulations.

Burrumbuttock is sending a 4 car team to the Gullargambone billy carts champioship, if they can get Wal and Burt outa the pub, and the Green Brothers get back from their shooting trip in time. See ya there !!!

Late Breaking News.
"Dacks" Smugley has opposed the Burrumbuutock blokes entry, citing Rule 479283475917, Appendix Z (xxi zv 1), which stipulates that he gets to decide the rules, cos he owns the track leading to the back of the pub, (and his Mum said so anyway.)
The Burrumbuttock blokes have said in response that they don't give a toss, and theres a free Keg on offer at Brownies place if they take their carts there, so there.
In response to this response, "Dacks" sidekick, "Shorty" Stoneless said the Burrumbuttock fellas can't use his brownie camera after all, and they could all go and get stuffed, cos there is a tricycle race at Smithy's place that people will want to see pics of.
(Shorty was seen talking to Wal from Burrumbuttock though, and Wal was drawing a mud map,).
So there is some doubt about, well, everthing.

It is reported that Force India have applied for entry to the 2010 F1 Championship unconditionally breaking with their agreement with FOTA. Nothing official yet though!

Why do I have a bad feeling about this ?

It seems that Mosley will stick to his guns and destroy Formula 1. The good thing about all this that we could have a new series without Mosley and without Bernie

AAaaahhhhhh, .............at last someone else can see a positive about all this,

While I do NOT want to see a split, I, and obviously so many others, have had an absolute gutful of Moseleys' machinations, of half arsed regulations which constantly and consistantly have to be hastily amended etc, etc.
Any positves Mad Bloody Max has achieved in F1 have been, imho, far out- weighed by his personal agendas.
My personal agenda at the moment it to outlive the bastard so I can dance on his bloody grave.

I agree. I've been following F1 for a very long time, almost 20 years now, and I can tell you that Max Mosley needs to go. He has completely lost it, has been losing it for the past 10 years and he got worse each year.

His constant changing of rules is the sole reason why the costs went up in the first place. He messed everything up and now he wants to cover his own crap. I can see the benefits of cost reduction and so do the FOTA teams, but the issue here is not cost it is the governance of Formula 1, stability of rules, professionalism of the sport which Max Mosley has completely destroyed. This is not war between FOTA and FIA, this is WAR between FOTA and one person - "Max Mosley" who still holds a grudge about his Nazi slave sex tape. This man is too old and stupid.

It may have been posted as a joking comment but we had to remove it as NewsOnF1 does not support violence in any shape and cannot allow such comments on the forum. NewsOnF1 believes any conflict in Formula 1 can and should be resolved by negotiations. Ed
