Hamilton right behind Alonso as they pass lap Trulli!

The McLareb duo have lapped everyone up to Fisichella in 4th. Stunning!

Lap 62: Order - Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Fisichella, Kubica, Heidfeld, Wurz and Raikkonen.

Retirements: Liuzzi, Webber and Sutil

Alonso leads Hamilton by 2.8 seconds with 10 laps remaining!

Final lap and Alonso leads Hamilton by 2.8 seconds. Massa in 3rd a full minute behind!

Alonso wins the race ahead of Hamilton. Massa in 3rd, the only other driver on the same lap. Superb win by McLaren.

Fisichella, Kubica, Heidfeld, Wurz and Raikkonen make the top 8.

Congratulations to Alonso, Hamilton and the McLaren team on a dominating win at the Monaco Grand Prix. They had no competition with their closest competitors Ferrari finshing more than a minute behind. The recent test at Paul Ricard gave an indication that McLaren will be strong in Monaco but no expected such domination.
Alonso and Hamilton were very close but given the difficulty in overtaking at this track, the driver on pole would win provided no mistakes and Alonso didn't do any. Both drove faultlessly.
Massa finished in 3rd but didn't impress. It seems their car isn't suited to this track and Massa was much closer to Fisichella than he was to Hamilton!
Kubica did well to finish in 5th and ahead of his teammate Heidfeld while Wurz finished in the points for the first time.
Raikkonen managed to salvage a point after starting from 16th but one doubts he was happy with the result.

Ahhhh, Monaco.......yawn.
For all it's glamour..........yawn.
For all it's history.......yawn.
Oh, the race?....McLaren produced a better go-kart on the day.

Typical Monaco.
Get to the first corner in front then control the race.
It must be so frustrating to be stuck behind another driver for the whole race when you have a faster car but not the opportunity to pass.

Race was plain vanilla

Oh and there was no driver of the day really... Nobody did anything special to deserve it anyway. I guess I will have to pick Raikkonen this time. At least he managed to get a good start and overtook a few during lap 1.

Fantastic win for Alonso His second win in a row at Monaco with different teams I may add .
He grabbed Pole and won from the lead and that is what you'd expect at Monaco. He set the fastest lap of the race as well. He was smooth, didn't need to brush the barriers and had there not been so many slow cars he would have been more than 10 seconds ahead of Hamilton. He got stuck behind Trulli and lost 5 seconds then Trulli let both Alonso and Hamilton pass.

Both Alonso and Hamilton were above the rest though, look at were Massa ended up, a full minute behind! The two kept pushing until the end and they still lapped quickly even though they had more than a 60 second buffer.

Those who complain for whatever reason, remember this is Monaco, it has always been like this so enjoy it.

On team orders, Kapel Anything more to say ? Care to explain how Alonso managed to win undeservedly from Hamilton ?

And if Hamilton were on pole, he would have won.
If Massa was on pole, he would have won......etc....etc......Monaco is simply irrelevant to today's F1.
What was so great about Alonso's drive? He simply did what almost every pole sitter always does at Monaco.

Precision fantastic drives from all the drivers who finished the race!!!

Alonso made good start,drove extremely fast like a true champion..just perfect.Yes deserved victory.

Dont feel like calling him a rookie anymore,Hamilton drove superbly to his 2nd place,brushing barriers,spectacular sliding...fantastic podium.

Mclaren outclassed everybody today,even the Ferrari's..Massa's 3rd atleast keep him in the running for no.1 slot in the team.

Fisi's 4th position was pleasantly suprising...but being lapped must have been disappointing.

Not much action on track with faster cars stuck behind slower ones,especially Kimi...nice drive atleast in terms of his championship gaining point.

JayVee,i never said Alonso didnt deserve to win...cant you just look beyond the fellow.I would like to put the same argument u have been agruing & criticising for years about team orders in favour of Michael Schumacher & his teammate not being allowed to compete with him.Ron Dennis admitted to giving team orders,changing Hamilton's pit strategy
and then being asked to backoff in the later stages.

I've no problems with Alonso winning(unlike you who had a problem when Michael won ,even when there were no team orders) but atleast for people like us who want to see the rookie bloke challenge the 2 time world champion be allowed!!!

Everyone cherished,including me when Alonso defied the 7 time champion...
Or r u trying to tell me that cos ur blue eyed boy is in front he should not be allowed to be challenged by his teammate??
