Just a few thoughts
Just had a thought about slowing F1 cars down and getting some inovation back into the sport. Is it not possible that the people running F1 hav overlooked something that could slow down the cars, get inovation and new technology back into F1, and generate some very positiveflow on effect to road cars? Fuel. Why dont we just reduce the amount of fuel available to the teams for a race weekend. After all I can barely afford a full tank, why should they?
I don't know how much fuel a current F1 car goes through per weekend, but cant we just cap it per car? Say a car would use 150L per race, lets cap it then reduce it by 20% per year until they have to use alternative energy sources to finish a race. While in no way do I want to see a whole buch of prius's running around a race track, you cant tell me the F1 engineers could't find new ways of making fuel efficient cars go around tracks really fast.
Anyway, back into the cage for me.

Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

No stay out of the cage you're right on, they should perhaps have to compete with desiel powered cars as well. Lets face it a desiel won Le Mans this year. capping the amount of fuel could make a desiel a good proposition. I don't see why they don't start encouraging electric powered racing in some junior formula and start moving that technology on as well. Lets face it these great engineering and technical minds are being wasted developing fossil fuel technology, there isn't going to be any fossil fuel in a few years!
Good on you for bringing it up Max could only come up with a pitiful excuse for an ecological upgrade to the formula. Cutting fuel and getting rid of fuel stops seems like the most rational next step.
Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button World Champions

I'm not in favour of turning F1 into an economy run, the formula is getting strangled enough as it is, maybe its all those weird aero growths appearing all over the cars, choking the life out of them.
F1's (technical) problems are disrupted following aerodynamics and ridiculously short braking distances. Neither can be addressed without choking the technology even further.
Having enjoyed that race on the weekend so much I beleive the solution is right in front of us, just place sprinklers all around the tracks, and then give Bernie the controls!

The Mountain is a savage Mistress.
I think they've actually considered it as an option - I'd be in favour of it, particulary at lap 25 when we know what the result of the race is going to beRedhead wrote:Having enjoyed that race on the weekend so much I beleive the solution is right in front of us, just place sprinklers all around the tracks, and then give Bernie the controls!

As for dumbing down the cars to run on vegetable juice, I'm not all against that idea, but I don't think it should be F1 leading the way on this, nor should it. The Oil and petrol compnaies as well as the car makers are starting to get the message, it won't be too long before were all packed into our Turbo-charged Milk-floats and charging down the 25 at 15mph, and still having to slow down for all the speed bumps and speed cameras.

Just had a great thought. If they converted the engines to Hydrogen, then not only would there be no harmful emmisions the fuel would also be cheap. But the main benifit is the emmisions of a hydrogen engine. Any of thos that don't know, it is water. So not only will the cars be environmentally friendly, we will also have a damp track throughout the race.

The guy on pole would establish such a lead on lap 1, we would end up with 1 lap races.rah wrote:Just had a great thought. then we would have to go to reverse grid for race2 (which would actually be lap 2)
and so on..
We would end up finishing the "race' at 3am.
The championship would be all tied up at the end of the season
