My line up....

I have just read an interesting post by gkay
I just wish I could have seen Senna, Prost, Schumi, Hakkinen and Alonso race on the same track...
Which gave me an idea.
Instead of just the usual questions and answers this time I am going to make up a list of 22 drivers that I would like to see race each other. Hope this makes sense.
I want you guys to send me your list of 22 drivers and why you would pick them. Sort of like a team of the century.
I will award points on how many of mine you picked and also points for good reasons. You may put different drivers to me but if I like your reasoning then I will award points.
If you all hate the idea then let me know and I will have to work on a normal type quiz.

Sounds interesting to me :)

Coupla questions though:

- Do you have a deadline in mind?
- When stating a reason, is it permissible to simply say: "I just happen to like that driver and therefore selected him."
- Are we allowed to select a driver by reputation, even though never having watched him actually drive (such as Fangio)

I hope that you don't take this the wrong way jacfan but in my opinion this topic is far too subjective to be a trivia topic.

In my opinion you can't compare drivers from the past with the current drivers as technology has improved as has safety standards, different tracks being used etc.

Perhaps you could try to imagine who you would like to see drive today, regardless of his past. I don't think she is aiming to find out who we think the best drivers were/are. It's some sort of a dream team deal.

Farina
Ascari
Fangio
Hawthorn
Surtees
Brabham
Moss
Amon
Rindt
Courage
Villenueve snr
AJones
Piquet
Prost
Senna
Jim Clark
J Stewart
Hakkinen
Mansell
Schumaker
Reutemann
Webber

Why these 22?
They are all ultra competitive, all can take a pig of a car and wring its neck, and if they all raced together, the last man standing would win.

8)

How about I make the deadline 1 July.
Reasons can be anything from a breakdown of their style of driving to simply because...whatever it can even be a funny reason.
Yes you don't have to have seen the drivers and can pick by reputation.
Just have some fun with it for a change. :D

No Southernman I do not take offence at your opinion. It is not a quiz but just trying to add a little fun. I know you can't compare drivers from diffferent eras or even the same era in different cars. It is just like picking a football team of the century. All imagination.
It is only a fun thing and if you don't like it I guess you don't have to join in but I hope it will be a bit of fun for everyone.

Exactly gkay. I should have read this before answering Southernman.
