Jani using the Cosworth "power-to-pass"(a/k/a boost) to attempt a pass on Servia diving into one..........and Jani sticks the pass!! Jani now in P1

Each driver has 60 seconds of Cosworth boost that they can use(essentially it's 50-75 extra hp on top of the 750hp contined within the Cosworth XFE-3 turbo V8); Jani was definitely on the boost heading down to one!

Jani leads, Servia 2nd, PT and Tag battling for 3rd/4th

Watching the highlights from Jani's pass, I'm almost betting that Servia let him by trying to conserve just a hair's bit more fuel......if it works, Servia can pass Jani through the first round of stops

PT pits from 3rd................fuel and tires for the #3

Gommendy pits from 10th; PKV using a split-fuel strategy for both their drivers

With PT's stop, Team Australia's Will Power moves into 5th

Junquiera pits from 10th; Jani pits from the lead, Servia pits from 2nd, Rahal pits from 4th

Rahal stalls it! He's going to lose a bunch of spots...............Power and Bourdais pit from 5th and 6th

Power beats SeaBass out! Alex Tagliani now moves in front of them........Tag also pitted when Power and Bourdais were in, so he picked up the lead prior to his stop; race control reporting the Robert Doornbos now leads from Dominguez and Jani

PT's really flying now!! Looking at timing/scoring, it looks as though Tracy put in two very fast outlaps following his stop........... :burnout: :burnout:

If Doornbos's team is gambling on making one more stop, it won't work; race control reporting that he will likely need to make two more stops(Dominguez may also need 2 more stops as well) as opposed to most of the other front-runners, who'll only need only one more stop

Doornbos leads by over 19 seconds in front of Jani; Servia 22 seconds back of the Dutchman

Doornbos continues to reel off fast lap after fast lap; he's unlikely to keep the lead once he pits, but if it's a fast stop, Bobby D(Doornbos' nickname around the paddock) potentially could stay in front of PT

And Doornbos pits from the lead..........fuel and tires; as expected, Neel Jani retakes the lead, Servia now 2nd and Doornbos stays in front of PT in 3rd

57 laps down..........Jani leads from Servia and PT

Doornbos could still be in the window for victory should there be a late caution as most of the frontrunners will have to make one additional stop during the race

PT's strategist, FCR VP-Operations Neil Micklewright, just said PT permission to "forget about fuel and POUR IT ON!!!!!"    :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

Approaching the halfway point of the race(now reading 48 minutes remaining in the race; all ChampCar races are timed 1 hr, 45 min. races).............

Doornbos beginning to pressure Servia; it looks as though Minardi's fuel gamble is paying off.........since Doornbos has made his second stop, he can press Servia, who will have to pit well before Doornbos

Meanwhile, Servia divebombs Jani for the lead in one, only to lose it back to Jani afterwards.........................next lap, Servia tries again and sticks the pass; Servia back to 1st, Doornbos beginning to reel both Servia and Jani in

Doornbos' engineer, Michael Cannon, tells ESPN pit reporter Bill Stephens that "they can now short-fill on their final stop even without another caution."

The only concern Cannon had in the interview was reminding Doornbos to close as much as possible to Servia and Jani, knowing they have more fuel at the moment than either of the first two

Race control reporting Alex Figge has gone down the runoff exiting turn 6......local caution only

Uh oh!! PT at a virtual crawl; could he have run out of fuel?
And it brings out a full-course caution............

Race control reporting pit lane is open; everyone peels off onto pitlane.....Heylen stays out(he had just pitted before the caution)

PT is back out; he's fallen to 12th

78 laps down.........Doornbos back to 1st, Jani 2nd, Servia 3rd, Gommendy 4th and Power 5th
