Valentino Rossi was the only rider to break the 2 minute mark during the first free practice session at the Shanghai circuit this afternoon, but all eyes were on his Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo who suffered a high-side accident in the turn 1-2 complex, landing feet first....reports are that he may have suffered a fracture of his left ankle, according to sources close to the MotoGP's Clinica Mobile, the series' traveling medical complex.....

Update on Jorge Lorenzo.........

According to sources close to Fiat Yamaha, the young Spaniard injured his left ankle and bruised the right ankle in a nasty high-side accident during the first session Friday; the injuries to his left ankle included a "fracture of the top of the malleola bone in the middle of the left ankle. Furthermore, the MRI scans show severe impact (edemas) to the right ankle, the astralago bone and the tibia, but fortunately no signs of further fractures," according to Dr. Claudia Costa of MotoGP's Clinica Mobile, the series' traveling medical service.
