Firstly well done on your blog Mlittle, had a look before and you have done well.
After my best ever results last race I have decided to consult the cards for this one. It is forecast to rain for Quali and the race so I am very keen to see how they travel without TC on the twisty off camber roads.
1st Kimi
2nd Fernando
3rd Heikki
4th Mark
5th Lewis
6th Robert
7th Jenson
8th Jarno
Nico to have a heavy shunt

I expect McLaren to be strong and I am picking Heikki for win and pole. So either I will improve massively or drop back massively. I have nothing to lose!!
Winner: Heikki Kovalainen - Rattles his teammate
Second: Kimi Raikkonen - Isn't able to keep up with Kovalainen
Third: Fernando Alonso - Podium is possible
Fourth: Felipe Massa - don't think this is one of his favourite tracks
Fifth: Lewis Hamilton - his turn for something to go wrong!
Sixth: Nick Heidfeld - has to beat his teammate!
Seventh: Mark Webber - hopefully he won't retire!
Eighth: David Coulthard - always finishes in Monaco!!
Pole: Heikki Kovalainen - Risky but possible!

I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!
Well JayVee, I am surprised.
However, I will support your hero.
Winner: Fernando Alonso
Second: Lewis Hamilton
Third: Felipe Massa
Fourth: Mark Webber
Fifth: Robert Kubica
Sixth: Kimi Raikkonen
Seventh: Jarno Trulli
Eighth: Nico Rosberg
Pole: Fernando Alonso
Monaco will throw up its normal surprises so I will go out on a limb.

It is with some real trepidation that I put in my picks for this race. After all, for Hungary I was unable to post being on Cape Cod at a house with an actual DIAL telephone and nothing resembling WiFi. I could have gone to the library and queued up for a 15 minute slot (they didn't have WiFi either; you had to use their bloody machines)...
what was the result (of carrying over my earlier picks)? only the best I've ever managed

I scored an incredible 43 points and was ranked 63rd for the Hungary round!
Can't brag on that (at least not for a while; will save it for later when no one remembers how I managed it!)
anyway, I love picking for Monaco because it is so crazy
JayVee, I hope you're right because you've not had a lot to cheer about this year!
that said, here's my humble picks:
1. Kimi
2. Felipe (GNASHING his teeth on the podium!!)
3. Robert the Pole in his Blue and White miracle machine
4. FERNANDO the miraculous
5. Lewis Hamilton (with pieces [diamonds maybe?] falling off his beat up McLaren
6. Mark Webber because he deserves it
7. Nelson Piquet just to confuse the flacks saying his career is over
8. Heikki will struggle, but manage to get some of the positions back that he will lose in the early going
Pole: my man the smiling Finn in the Red Number One
cheers and good luck to you all

I know, I will always want Alonso to win but I am really trying to be realistic about my picks rather than being emotional (and failing miserably in that I must add).cmlean wrote:Well JayVee, I am surprised.

I wouldn't be suprised to see him on pole but it may be due to fuel loads and then counting on safety cars as I am sure there will be a number of crashes this year.
Maybe I should change my picks and factor in crashes by those who keep struggling with no traction control!!

Hello Jim, was wondering where you were!!Jim Watt wrote:Greetings Race Fans (tho' as you have to admit, Monaco is more of a parade than a race)

Isn't Indy about to happen ? Do you think Danica can make it ?
I think Monaco will be a crashing parade with most of the race behind the safety car. With traction control they have been crashing there, it will be far worse without!! Now I am convinced I need to change my picks

You have registered the following picks :
Winner : Lewis Hamilton
Second : Heikki Kovalainen
Third : Kimi Raikkonen
Fourth : Felipe Massa
Fifth : Robert Kubica
Sixth : Mark Webber
Seventh : Fernando Alonso
Eighth : Nick Heidfeld
Pole : Lewis Hamilton
I believe McLaren will have the advantage over Ferrari here, I may be wrong. Kubica is on a roll
Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso are contenders for "drivers that outperform their car", with Nick close behind (I could have gone for Nico).
Pole Lewis Hamilton hopefully he does not start on a **** strategy.

Jay Vee asked: Isn't Indy about to happen ? Do you think Danica can make it ?
Yes. Actually I'll be video taping Monaco Sunday Morning while I'm driving out to the race track. Usually the show in the S. of France is over before the balloons go up at Indy (yes. they have balloons. and they actually release them just before the start) the drivers often watch Monaco while they're waiting around for all the traditional things to happen leading up to the start.
Yes. Danica has a first rate team and so her machine (they're all in identical machines, more or less) will be as ready as any other driver's. I actually expect her to be in the top five, maybe even second, but this year I think her team mate, Tony Kanaan (from Brazil) will win. He SHOULD HAVE won last year, but the rain favored his other team mate, Dario Franchitti, instead.
The odds makers are going with either the Penske (two time winner Castroneves & Ryan Briscoe) and Ganassi (Scott Dixon and Dan Wheldon) teams to win -- but I don't think it will work out that way.
I expect young Andretti (he's starting seventh) to get in some trouble early on; I'm just hoping Danica isn't near by when he does.
enjoy the [F1] race!
