Regarding the Merc/Honda Deal

:D :D Greetings Chaps!!

Norbert says that someone needs to show him the money and then he can discuss supplying engines to the "Honda" team.

If someone will loan me 150 million dollars, I'll be happy to write Norbert a check --but first I'd like to talk Max into loosening the engine regs to allow me to put a blower on a Cosworth block; I'd keep Jense and try to get Bourdais to partner with him.

And for livery: the car would be BLACK and BLUE and feature the Pirate Flag with skull and crossed wrenches on the nose and rear wings.

The whole point would be to come between the Renaults and the Saubers --who will be distracted by emergence of Red Bull as a serious contender for third or fourth in the manufacturers points (first and second will be McLaren & Ferrari, trading places all year long)

wouldn't it be fun to see a season of scrambling.

:D Thanks, Julian. It's not that I'm TAKING anything; it's more that me and my racing fan pals here in Indy are waxing nostalgic for the 'good old days' when people used to build their Indy cars in someone's garage and then haul the thing out to Indy in the month of May and try to get enough speed out of it to make the show. The occasion for this is the impending collapse of big time motorsport in America. Over at NASCAR they've already announced that there will be NO Tire Testing this season. So the week before Daytona is going to be exciting again as all the teams will be trying to figure out how to manage the tires by seeing what happens in the other races leading up to the big one --the Bud 'Shoot Out', the Truck Races, etc.

Things will be getting wild and wooly again, we hope. And so I naturally began to dream about the wild and wooly days of F1.

Here in the magical land of OZ, where our temps are expected to reach 100F for the next week, the V8Supercar honchos have introduced a sticky tyre which will last about 20 laps, and limited testing on it. I expect the first couple of V8Supercar races will be just as wild and woolly, Jim.
Strangely, our premier category has defied world trends, with more sponsorship than ever, and a full sub-category to back up the main game.
Bring it on !!!!
