In his new book Up Front: A Season To Remember, Red Bull Racing's Mark Webber revealed that he had broken his left shoulder prior to the Japanese Grand Prix. According to a news article over on SpeedTV.com, Webber revealed that he suffered a broken left shoulder in a bicycle crash while on holiday in Australia prior to the Suzuka round of the 2010 F1 season.

The injury was described as a "skier's break", a non-serious but deep inside the joint and difficult to treat. Webber, in his new book, says that he didn't inform team principal Christian Horner, which according to reports has Horner upset with the Aussie; only Webber's trainer and an FIA doctor knew about the injury in question...........

However, Webber denies that the injury played a part in him losing the WDC to teammate Sebastien Vettel; prior to Japan, Webber was 31 pts. ahead of Vettel but eventually would lose the title to the younger Vettel.

.............is it just me or should Webber stay away from bicycles for the foreseeable future?

It seems a bit weird. I can understand him not telling the team if he felt they'd use it as an excuse to give Vettel preferential treatment.

But why then publicise it in a book, (I don't think Horner knew a book was coming out at all), to antagonise the team pre-2011?

Anyway, being the off-season he has time to smooth things over.
