Day 1 is in the books and what have we learned?
Charles Leclerc is after redemption. He and his Ferrari are setting the pace.
Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez in their Red Bulls are not comfortable.
Aston Martin have a package that seems to be working here at Monaco.
McLaren are there abouts. Lando Norris more so.
The drivers are finding the boundaries, some regularly brushing the barriers.
What they have shown us is the Saturday will be exciting!

Well, what's there to say?
With Kevin Magnussen sticking the nose of his Haas up the inside of Sergio Perez's Red Bull coming out of Sainte Devote, there was only going to be one outcome and it happened. The cars touched wheels rear to front and both ended up bouncing off the barriers. Nico Hulkenburg was unlucky to be caught up in the incident after almost getting through. The result, 3 cars out after only one corner.
To cap it off, Esteban Ocon took a dive up the inside of his team mate Pierre Gasly entering Portier with Ocon bouncing over Gasly's right front and out of the race.
I understand that on the first lap is the best chance to make up positions however common sense seemed to go out the door.
The luckiest driver would have to be Carlos Sainz who touched Oscar Piastri's McLaren also exiting Sainte Devote and puncturing his left front. He limped back to the pits.
These incidents brought out the red flag and drivers took this opportunity to take their mandatory tyre stop.
The race resumed from a standing start and then became a procession to the chequered flag. There were 4 drivers who took to the pits in an effort to shake things up a bit but the grid basically became the finishing order.
