The first practice session for Formula 1 and the track was green.
Pierre Gasly was the first to loop his Alpine exiting Copse. If you blinked, you missed his 360. The tyres, on the other hand, were ruined.
Gabriel Bortoleto followed suit later in the session with a 720 to show Pierre how it was done. Again, tyre damage only.

Through the closeness of the times in FP2, this is shaping up to be a close British Grand Prix.
Ferrari are on the pace as are Mercedes. The team they are all chasing is McLaren however the time between the top teams is small.
Max Verstappen is again leading Red Bull but both Racing Bulls are on the pace. Throw in the Aston Martins and we have a race on our hands.

Two red flags near the end of the session stopped a few drivers completing their final qualifying runs.
The first was for a front winglet on the track from a Haas.
The second, Gabriel Bortoleto lost the rear of his Sauber and spun across the grass. A big hump in the middle destroyed the left front corner suspension.

Ollie Bearman was hit with a 10 place grid penalty for crashing while entering the pits at the end of FP3 under red flag conditions.
Kimi Antonelli carries a 3 place grid penalty into this race from his incident in the Austrian Grand Prix.

Franco Colapinto crashed exiting the final turn mid way through Q1. He brought out the red flags as he tried to return to the pits.

Max Verstappen pulled another miracle lap to take pole from Oscar Piastri with local hero Lando Norris in third.

Bring on the race!

Well, the British Grand Prix lived up to expectations.
The race commenced with drivers on intermediates following a drenching prior to the start. More rain was on the horizon which deterred most teams from trying to go onto slicks. Some did and paid the price spinning off the track. Franco Colapinto was the first to retire after coming into the pits to change tyres only to have a gearbox problem as he tried to rejoin. Turn 3 was a case of 3 into 2 not going with Liam Lawson punted off the circuit. A flat tyre stopped him returning to the pits and into retirement. Gabriel Bortoleto was next fall off the track damaging his rear wing. He also pulled off the side of the track, bringing out the virtual safety car to permit recovery of his Sauber. This was the end of lap 3.
Isack Hadjar lost the rear of his Racing Bull on lap 17 and ended in the barriers. The first full safety car for the race. The race restarted and, on lap 21, the rain came down. Another safety car was called. As the safety car lights went out late in the lap, it took off into the distance. Oscar Piastri braked endeavoring to get a gap and was deemed to have braked too heavily in the run to the start forcing Max Verstappen to take evasive action. Piastri was given a 10 second penalty which effectively handed his victory to Lando Norris. Nico Hulkenberg finally broke his duck of not ever being on the podium finishing in third and winning the driver of the day.
