It was a typical FP1 with drivers getting their rhythm, testing setups and getting faster as the track evolved.
We did have a red flag when Isack Hadjar entered the Variante Ascari Chicane a tad too fast, running through the gravel and leaving it all over the circuit.
George Russell had a hydraulic problem in the final moments of the session leaving him and his Mercedes stranded on the circuit.

Six minutes into the session and Kimi Antonelli had beached his Mercedes in Lesmo 2. The red flags were brought out and, while the car was being removed, the track marshalls swept the gravel from the circuit. After practice resumed, again drivers dipped their left rears into the gravel on exit and the gravel was once more on the circuit;

Max Verstappen did what Max does best by dragging his Red Bull into pole for the Grand Prix. Running with the lowest drag, he pulled out the vital metres on the straights and held on through the corners to pip Lando Norris in the battle for P1 on the grid. This sets well for for an exciting Grand Prix as the pole sitter hasn't won at Monza for some time. Lewis Hamilton qualified in 5th however a 5 place grid penalty carried over from Zandvoort for excess speed in the final sector entering pit lane prior to the race.
Hero to zero has to go to Isack Hadjar who, after finishing on the podium at Zandvoort, will start from pit lane after a bad qualifying and then electing to take a new power unit in his Racing Bull. Liam Lawson will start on the back row after having his first flying lap in Q1 deleted for exceeding track limits and then messing up his only chance to redeem himself.

Max Verstappen turned the race predictions on their head with a dominant performance, controlling the race from the front and leading the McLaren duo on a merry chase. Such was his dominance, the papaya team finished near 20 second behind the Red Bull.
Nico Hulkenberg's race ended before it started with his Sauber suffering a hydraulic problem as he drove towards the grid.
Alex Albon and Gabriel Bortoleto had memorable drives from deep in the field to finish in 7th and 8th positions respectively while Lewis Hamilton moved forward from his grid 10 start following his grid penalty up to a creditable 6th as the chequered flag fell. Isack Hadjar drove from a pit lane start to finish a creditable 10 outright.
