BTW, that's for the Nextel Cup race, not the Busch Series race.....in other words, Ambrose will be making his Nextel Cup debut this weekend at the Glen....   :bouncec: :bouncey: :bounce: :bounceg: :bouncest: :twinb: :gl:

Update on the Tasmanian Devil(a/k/a Ambrose)................

Post by mlittle » Wed Nov 21, 2007 2:15 pm

note......the above reference is what the NASCAR announcers called Ambrose during the 2007 season; IIRC, he is from Tasmania, so the reference does fit..........     :burnout:

2007 NASCAR Busch Series stats..................
~~8th overall in the standings(4th-highest Busch series regular)
~~completed 96+ percent of laps in competition(5989 laps total)
~~led 59 laps in 2007
~~1 pole(Memphis Motorsports Park)
~~1 top 5 finish(Memphis)
~~6 top 10 finishes(Mexico City, Las Vegas, Dover I, Gilles Villeneuve, Memphis and Homestead; highest finish was at Memphis-4th)

All-in-all, I think he ran well this year; he's getting more used to the ovals here in the States' and should continue doing better in 2008; according to the news page over at autoracing1.com, Ambrose will be racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series(formerly Nextel Cup) in 12 races for the Wood Brothers/JTG Racing stable in the Little Debbie Snack Cakes Ford Fusion; he'll also run the full Nationwide Series(a/k/a Busch Series) schedule so it's going to be a busy 2008 season for him........

GOOD LUCK IN 2008!

Actually hard to say, Julian...........Villeneuve started so late this year that it's almost impossible to make a comparison btwn. Villeneuve and Ambrose. I think we'll know who the better driver is by this time next year........

In case anyone's interested, Ambrose starts 39th in Saturday's Camping World 300 at Daytona, the first race of the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series(formerly the Busch Series).......there were a few interesting names of note in the qualifying queue besides the "Tasmanian Devil".............

~~"Smoke", a/k/a Tony Stewart(Sprint Cup regular), qualified on the pole
~~the Scotsman, Dario Franchitti(2007 Indy 500/IndyCar Series champion), starts 4th
~~Michael McDowell(2004 Star Mazda champion, former Grand-Am racer), starts 21st

Ambrose wins @ the Glen.........

Post by mlittle » Sun Aug 10, 2008 12:29 pm

A little bit of history was made up in Watkins Glen this afternoon as former V8 champion Marcos Ambrose notched his first NASCAR event win, taking the checkers in today's Nationwide Series Zippo 200 @ the Glen. Qualifying 12th, Ambrose steadily made his way to the front, taking the lead briefly before having to pit for fuel and tires......as the laps wound down, Ambo found himself in third before would retake the lead as the lead cars of Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Burton had to pit for a splash of fuel, and that was that; Ambo won by 4+ seconds over Sprint Cup veterans Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth.

CONGRATULATIONS, MARCOS!!!
