hi,

my picks are:

Winner : Kimi Raikkonen - what else does he deserve?
Second : Jenson Button - deserves a win as well, but Kimi is faster.
Third : Giancarlo Fisichella - deserves to get more points than FA
Fourth : Nico Rosberg - I simply believe there's a lot more to be seen from this young man (as I said before)
Fifth : Felipe Massa - this could wake Michael up ... or convince him to call it a day, but anyway: I'm looking forward to Michael making his decision, because he is holding up the whole driver market thing
Sixth : Fernando Alonso - hard to imagine him any further back. I guess he will be better, but I wanted to distribute the placings according to my liking
Seventh : Michael Schumacher - unable to finish out of the points
Eighth : Mark Webber - fast car, home GP, fast teammate ... could wake him up and bring him into the points, don't you think?

Pole : Kimi Raikkonen - no explanation necessary. You did ask for the fastest man in town, didn't you?

*taking cover*

now you can aim at me whatever you feel like ...

:busy: :horn: Holy Moly Mates! I thought there'd be a veritable myriad of picks on this thread by now, there only being 3 days to go! Where is everyone? :D

I appreciate Schmorbraten's picks, tho' I think Webber will place one higher than his pick and I believe Michael will be back on form in this race, the Scuderia having had time to return to home base and make some VERY MUCH NEEDED improvements (ie. taking out the down force and fixing the bloody pistons :bang:

I'm assuming that this week the bad luck will switch to Fisi and poor Kimi will be allowed to get on with it; and since he'll have a brand new Merc behind him I expect him on the pole and winning from it.

So here are me picks for the Grand Prix of Australia

1. Kimi -- because it's TIME :D
2. Fernando --because the Renault's are the best machines running:lol:
3. Michael --because he's a World Champion, too :light:
4. Jenson --because he's a nice lad  (& Honda's are FAST!)
5. Juan Pablo -- I dunno if I'll see him above fifth place all year
6. Felipe M. -- Ferrari's are Fast, too
7. Mark Webber --because he's an Aussi with a Cosi :D
8. Nico R. --because he's the real thing and I'm not leaving him out of the points any more! 8)

Pole: Kimi :1st: :1st: :1st: Because, as I said, it's time for his luck to change!

By the by, chaps, the opening IRL race in Florida yesterday was a sad one because of the accident resulting in death in practice;

but the racing for the last 20 laps or so was hypnotic. I not only couldn't take my eyes off the screen; I couldn't sit down. Even the guys in the booth were losing it!

You may say it's a child's game going round and round in circles, but I wonder how many of the F1 chaps would be willing to go wheel to wheel for that long right down the straight and through the turns, especially when the inside man is having a hard time keeping the thing from sliding up!

Dan Wheldon has nerves of purest steel; I sure hope somebody gives him an F1 ride! Indeed, if I was Ron Dennis, worrying about who to pair up with Fernando when Kimi goes to the big Reds, I'd sure have somebody lining up the Danster for a test!!

What a great season this is shaping up to be! :burnout:

Jim Watt

Tipping this weekend is easy:

1. Webber - Home GP, turn up the revs, let the cosworth rip, who cars about the next race. Its on.

2. Kimi - Will qualify light to keep away from the crap.
3. Alonso - no comment
4. Schumi - the ferrari aint too bad.
5. Nico - this kid is good.
6. Button - Hmmm. Want excuse can I use this week thats fresh. Oh, I know . . . It must be the car, look how far back Rubens is . . . so its the car,. . . its not me. Mummy, we did Mark win a race before me, I am so much prettier than him.
7. Massa - just one mistake this week.
8. JPM - from the back of the grid.

Pole: Kimi. Webber P2.

JV also said that he's in a car which cant win a championship & he's wasting his time there, cos if he moves to a championship winning car he would still be in the sychi of not winning b'cos of driving for all those years in a non performance machinery.

This coming from JV,especially cos he won his only chanpionship with Williams is shocking

Also, his comments dont make sense to me  Doesnt every driver come from a non performance machinery to a championship winning car over the years..

Winner: Fernando Alonso - Cause he is the only driver that can take two drivers on the outside with twice the fuel load
Second: Kimi Raikkonen - He will try
Third: Jenson Button - Continues the tradition of being the only points scorer for Honda
Fourth: Giancarlo Fisichella - I was taking care of my engine
Fifth: Juan Pablo Montoya - This is a nice comfy place
Sixth: Mark Webber - Home track advantage
Seventh: Felipe Massa - Again has a great drive after an engine change
Eighth: Nico Rosberg - Only this time mate!
Pole: Fernando Alonso - Will have the correct fuel this time!

Left out Villeneuve cause I don't think his engine will last :(

Well yes and no :D

When those years start counting 1 ... 2 ... 3 .... 4 .... 5 .... 6 ... :nap: :nap:

Champions either jump into a competitive car straight away or a year or two later at most. There are exceptions of course :D

But:

Villeneuve - Straight into Williams
Alonso - Minardi then Renault

Champion material
Raikkonen - Sauber then McLaren

Future champions (if Alonso lets them   )
Rosberg - Will move to a competitive team if Williams don't deliver
Kovalainen - Straight into Renault - Speculative but true
