Should V8s continue to run a control tyre, or should there be free choice?

A single tyre company and a single compound is better.
It is easier to compare cars and drivers when they are on the same tyre and same compound. I think F1 will move to that in the next few years.

Do I recall a time when F1 ran a control tyre and there were accusations that 1 team was getting "specials"?
