Kimi Raikkonen wins the Championship by 1 point ahead of Hamilton and Alonso! That was very close.

This season was what an F1 season should be; the drivers' hanging it out on every lap, going the proverbial 10/10ths.....I really feel sad for Hamilton, though.....he had the title in hand(all he needed to do was stay ahead of the Iceman and Alonso and the title's his.....) and he threw it all away being too overzealous too soon..... :(

On the other hand, I'm really happy to see ole' Kimi win; he's been F1's bridesmaid for the past few years('03, '04 and '05 come to mind) and it had to be like a weight taken off of his shoulders to finally, finally hoist the drivers' title....you're right; Kimi has truly assumed Schumacher's mantle as lead driver at Ferrari.......

As for McLaren......you're also right about McLaren......I suspect there'll be a bit of bloodletting at Woking over the winter, but they'll be back in 2008(according to ar1.com, the team all pitched in to purchase a glass trophy designed to look like the official Constructors' Trophy that they gave to Ron Dennis prior to the race weekend as a reflection of their efforts' in 2007, regardless of all the things that occurred this year)

Kimi will get my driver of the day award when it comes up. Great race to end the season. I was checking the maths of what the points were throughout the race.

It looked like occasion got the better of Hamilton. I wouldn't surprise me if his car difficulties were caused by the way he drove at the start of the race. McLaren were never going to beat Ferrari but Hamilton should have driven in a manner just to finish near the top of the field.

I didn't like the bias that the commentators had towards Hamilton. Their were other drivers in the race as well that they could have spent more time focusing on.

Well done Kimi. :1st:

Good to see that the quiter drivers can win. :D

Wow what a race and what a Championship

Congrats to Kimi and Ferrari for a well deserved victory

It will be interesting to see what happens next year.

I thought that it was very sporting of Ferrari not to protest Hamilton getting in the way of Kimi twice during qualifying. :P

As it was the McLaren let Lewis down at the crucial time and he also had a brain explosion trying to pass Alonso on the first lap when he didn't have to

Well done FERRARI  :yourock:

I keep wondering the same about Hamilton.....why, why did you have to attack straight off of the start.....I mean, all he had to do was finish ahead of Raikkonen and Alonso and the title's his for this year; he didn't have to push so hard and it cost him the championship

I also wonder why McLaren 3 stopped Hamilton

From comments after the race (easy with hindsight) it appeared the super soft worked O.K yet McLaren only put Hamilton out on this tyre for only a handful of laps.

Strange :alright:

Congratulations to Kimi Raikkonen for winning the race and the 2007 Drivers' Championship. Kimi drove a good race, pushed when he had to and with some help from Massa won the race. Massa was very quick all weekend and ending up second to help Kimi win the title for Ferrari as he was out of contention.
Alonso finished 3rd but needed to be 2nd behind Kimi to win the title. He was way behind the Ferraris and appeared to struggle a lot in the middle sector. With all the trouble he has had at McLaren, he will be glad the season is over and we wait to see which team he will end up at.
Great effort by Nico Rosberg to finish 4th once again showing his skill, hopefully the Williams next year will be stronger.
Kubica finished 5th having some great fights with Rosberg and his teammate Heidfeld who finished in 6th.
Hamilton showed his inexperience, he wanted to recover his position lost to Alonso on the first lap yet had he finished 4th he would have won the title. Of course he was unlucky to have his car fail him temporarily.
Trulli made up the top 8.

Your thoughts and the driver of the day

And thanks mlittle for helping in the coverage. We were on some slight delay.
