Monaco Grand Prix (Raikkonen wins!)

Since when has a car been important in Monaco

.No high speed corners,no long straights!!!Horsepower & aero count very little here

Slow to medium speed corners is the layout of this track.Only drivers skills will count here alongwith patience & concentration of doing 78 laps

.Drivers here cant assume/think"i'll brake a little later and see how the car behaves".If he does that the boss for sure would not behave nicely to him after landing in the barrier

Anyone from anywhere can win the race,cos one never knows when the leaders of someone in the middle of a pack makes a mistake & others pay the price.

Hope to see a few crashes,safety car period & a bit of rain.

The most important part in Monaco is talent. there is a reason why the WDC's of F1 are dominating in number of wins there.

Senna 6 wins - 3 time WDC
Prost 4 wins - 4 time WDC
Schumacher 5 wins - 7 time WDC
Stewart 3 wins - 3 time WDC
Lauda 2 wins - 3 times WDC

Obviously you need a good car, and the above drivers all won in very good cars, but that is not the only reason they won there.

This is a slow speed track and Renault have been strong on these kinds of tracks for a few years, that is why I expect them to finish 1-2. McLaren will follow them for sure and won't be far behind but to me a 1-2 finish is domination.

While I agree that Monaco requires a bit of extra talent, I think it is over-hyped a bit. Take Hakkinen for example, he is considered a top talent yet won only once where DC who isn't rated highly by many (except the British media of course) won twice.

I think luck plays an equally higher part in Monaco than other tracks.

Remember Panis winning the race ? And Senna winning just becuase Mansell had to make a late tyre change ?

Yes JV, the nature of the track leads to debris strewing accidents, which affect innocent runners

I most asuredly remember Olivier winning, that one race made him one of my favorite drivers. He on that one day, did everything right and managed to win a race for a team that had gone 15!!!! years without a win, using an engine that had never won a race.

That one race is an example of why we must keep Monaco. Cyclic nature of the world:

David Coulthard may never have won the WDC, but he is a VERY accomplished F1 driver, and anyone discounting him as "not good enough" needs to discount:

Exactly the same way.

David Coulthard winning in 2002 was the best race that he ever drove, winning in a car that should not be able to win.
