I don't think I have seen a single hate comment on Raikkonen so what are you on about :!:

I don't love him (The Cute is far more appealing) but I don't hate him. I think from this season onwards Alonso - Raikkonen rivarly will be the modern Senna - Prost rivarly but we don't have to hate one to love the other

Kimi passing Michael ? Did you watch the race ?

Kimi winning more championships than The Cute, of course you can dream!!
But he who comes second will always come second
Jay Vee:  You're right about me getting carried away. I meant to say J.V. and somehow transposed the not so flying Canadian into the now also not so flying German! Of course Kimi passed J.V. in the pits and what I meant was that all the time he was trying to get by the Sauber, he was about his business of trying to get by the Sauber and J.V. was, as any driver should be, about trying to keep his position; neither one thinking about points or team strategy or cheating, both simply trying to win.

Speaking of winning, I don't think it's a dream that Kimi will win more than Fernando, but of course, you're right: time will tell and he who is second will be second. I'm not worried

You're also right about not having to hate one to love another. I am very fond of JPM and always have been; I like Fisi and respect (unlike many others) DC. Heck, I even have a soft spot for J.V. --especially now that he's struggling.

But, for me there are ever only a very few drivers that manage to carry their cars when their cars can't carry them; Senna was the most recent before Michael. Kimi will be next.

What I was responding to, for fun more than anything else, was the seeming lack of interest in Kimi, in spite of the recent effort to get the thread spinning. In fact, of course, the idea of a Kimi fan club is as funny as a Machievelli Peace Prize.

Thanks for your response and on to Spa, where Alonzo the cute will be eating MacLaren exhaust fumes all day-- if he's lucky. :D

Excellent post Jim, because I agree with a lot of it!!
I have a lot of respect for DC, one of the few adults currently racing.
They need to build a stronger car for Kimi cos he exceeds the "normal" demands on the chassis, and is on the throttle longer than most
Sweet F.A. is favoured by the most forgiving chassis out there, I doubt he is the type of driver who can pick a car up by the scruff of the neck a la Senna, and perhaps Mansell at his best
Hopefully Spa will not favour Sweet F. A.... ONLY ...(settle, JV) to keep the title alive a little longer before the inevitable.
I suspect your average polar bear would have more fans than Kimi.

Jim Watt wrote::roll: Why people who love racing don't love Kimi? possible answers:
1. they don't love racing, they like professional wrestling and NASCAR;
2. they are fans of Alonzo the cute
3. they fear that Kimi is another Michael Schumacher (and their fears are rational ones!)
4. they hate all Finns, including Mikka
5. they hate Ron Dennis
6. they are fans of Juan Pablo
7. they think that what they think affects the outcome of races or the performance of the drivers (and Kimi, like Michael, is a classic example of the focused performer)
8. did you see Kimi pass Michael at Monza? Did Michael shake his fist at him? Did either driver do anything other than attend to business? So they think drivers that drive are not "exciting" Ah. now I see another reason:
9. they like drivers with excuses better than drivers with results (I was going to list some names, but why bother? you all know them)
10. They prefer "colorful" drivers --and they don't like it that Kimi leaves as soon as his car fails. They want him to hang around and, like themselves, assign blame rather than use the valuable time between the end of one race and the beginning of the next to think about winning more than whining.
In the end, who cares? Kimi will win more races and more championships than the Spaniard or the Columbian.

Jim, you are getting carried away here

1.Jim didn't talk about HATE but about NOT LOVE... the 4th point he said is a possibility, so i cannot undertand why you (JV) wrote that...

2.you say " I don't think I have seen a single hate comment on Raikkonen so what are you on about" he's about the people who do not love Kimi... not about the people who hate Kimi and write in this forum.

3. Jim said: "6. they are fans of Juan Pablo" I cannot see your point, I am a JPOM fan and do not hate kimi, the opposite, I like kimi! (not being his fan). I like Mclaren team as many others JPM fans.... I think you could better that 6th point like this:
6. they are fans of other driver (for example DC, FA, MS, JPM, etc...)

4. Jim said " 9. they like drivers with excuses better than drivers with results (I was going to list some names, but why bother? you all know them)" . this is very strange, I only can see hate from you towards those "names" which we "all know" ... Sincerely i do not belive there is such a prson which "like drivers with excuses better than drivers with results" why would any like those? the more ilogicall it is, the more your hate is felt. All we like drivers which RACE!!!!!!!!! which fight in a smart way, in fact like Kimi did, he understood he couldn't pass JV and saved tyres (?) and fuel, then went on charge when JV pited, that's smart and you see how he fought when he overdoing it, putting fastest laps, made mistake and spun. I like Kimi.

I recon it's hard to become a Kimi fan but as well I think you won't never find many Kimi heaters...(beside on other drivers-web-sites-forums where are a lot of blind-fans...)

Have you noted the quantity of MS heaters??? is that jealousy? Alonso won this year WC, do anybody HATE him??? (just want to note that I do not hate MS, neither RB, I hate Todt, Montemezolo & Co... anyway i recon i DO NOT LIKE MS, a real champion won't never do what MS did (do), still, he is, of course, a great driver...still compare him to Senna is nonsense!)

thanks on my site. It still is having some major features being put up, so keep checking evry month.

If renault are going to dominate 2006 then they need to produce a good acr, not a fluke like this year (it suddenly became fast, without no team effort)

nothing against you, just my views
Yeah sure, the Renault is a fluke and that is why they are the only team that is fighting with McLaren

Renault reentered F1 in 02 and are fighting for the championship in 05. Other teams with much bigger budgets couldn't do it in such a short time
Oh I forgot, that was a fluke too :D

Good luck to your team and may the best win!

I suppose there should be more Raikkonen heaters than MS heaters - afterall Finland is colder than Germany   8)

Alonso heaters, you don't need them in Spain

But really I don't find many here who love Alonso The Cute :(

But (getting serious) I agree a champion doesn't need preferential treatment to be a champion and comparing him to Senna is nonsense

Ive thought of something that would surprise as all.

Heres the WDC 2005 deal rite, Alonso only needs 4 points to win the WDC and Kimi raikonnen would like that paycheque so he is fighting the renault cutey boy all the time

BUT WHAT IF MR. JENSON BUTTON STEPS IN!!!!!!! He wont win the WDC but just imagine both the cute and the cold blooded crashing out at spa and Button interfering and winning the gp.

Yes it would be pretty funny (and bad in a way, coz then who knows where Buttons ego may fly off to)

But Likely ......no

Jenson hasnt actually been that talked about that much this season(considering the "buttongate" saga).......It seems he has been overshadowed by the other young (and in my opinion, Faster, better, and more modest) drivers...the only time he was REALLY popular was at silverstone...pity for someone with as big an ego as that to fall out of the limelight. 8) 8)

I dont expect even a new engine of his to last very long......

Do you think maybe its his driving style that pushes the engine to the limit(and beyond) :?:
