Doesn't that mean that they have a reasonable amount of money ?
Renault own 33% of Nissan last I heard. That is a controlling interest. They made a lot of changes as Nissan Australia was the only nissan outlet making any money anywhere in the world. The man that turned it around was Carlos Gohsn(spelling?). He is now the new boss of Renault. About half the total profit of Renault is made off the megane in France alone which he believes is a bit risky.

After all that remember that Renault and Nissan would make nowhere near the profit of the big boys. But what is the point of spending all that money in F1 if it not making them more of a profit?
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

Sometimes corporates do really stupid decisions but I really doubt Renault would quit F1 anytime soon. It will take a while for this success to have an effect on sales. Buying a car isn't like buying beer or wine :D

I don't mind getting my hands on a Megane convertible but at around 50K I can't afford it

Besides Renault are heavily into building sports engines (Formula Renault, GP2, etc ...) and F1 is a natural place for them.
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!
