I don't think it is a bad decision. In fact I think it was the correct decision. MS is not bigger than the sport, that is maybe something he needs to rememberF1greyhound wrote:Typical comments on MS.
The point is, the evidence cant be clear or great if the penalty had to be discussed for 7-8 hours. Jackie Stewart is indicating Michaels saturation and final season since 2001....so what a surprise. Similar goes for Keke Rosberg who must be frustrated that someone is so much more successfull(or simply better..) than himself who won a WDC without a single victory.
Will every driver who does a similar mistake(and there have been hundreds in the past) in future be put to the back of the grid? What a joke.
Remember the fact that Michael was on pole shouldnt have anything to do with the decision. Would anybody have bothered had he been 3rd or 5th?
The decision is particularly bad for the sport. Something like disqualifying someone for doping without any substance found.
If the FIA had taken a similar stance with some of MS' earlier "indescetions" he may have thought twice about this one.F1greyhound wrote:Typical comments on MS.

Put the comments by drivers/ex-drivers aside for a moment. The stewards made their decision based on the data they had not on what Stewart or Rosberg or Briatore said. It took a long time because they were analysing the evidence. It is good to see the FIA following a proper process.F1greyhound wrote:Typical comments on MS.

Ahem... he won one race in 1982...F1greyhound wrote: Similar goes for Keke Rosberg who must be frustrated that someone is so much more successfull(or simply better..) than himself who won a WDC without a single victory.

Pretty likely the FIA decided to give the Championship to RENAULT, on an initiative from the always super fair FLAVIO B.
A grid penalty like for FISICO, that is 5 places would have been ok.
Just my opinion
