RE, I am firmly of the belief that the fun went out of F1 for JPM the day the team assigned him a personal trainer. And I say " good on yer JPM, if it aint fun don't do it." The guy has enormous talent, a few other drivers may be able to balance a pig of a car on the razors edge for a few laps, but only 1 or two can do it lap after lap. He drove a car tailored for Kimi, race after race his problem, and we all heard it on pit radio, was balance.
I don't think he would have taken a Williams/Toyota deal, and I believe it was offered, The only seats that would have kept him in F1 would have been Renault or Ferrari.
Such was the mystique of Ferrari pre Scummaker, every F1 Driver lusted for a seat, there is still a residual fancy in all of them
