Yes for sure each team would be near their qualifying load but as there is only 1 qualifying session and it is with race fuel, a team planning a longer first stint or a single stop strategy won't be taking fuel out this session as they'd be heavy in qualifying anyway.

That was one positive from the last format as we knew the pace of the cars on low fuel. Now we simply won't know until the first pit stops who was light in qualifying and who wasn't. Just like last year!

1st and only qualifying session starting in 5 minutes.

The 2005 qualifying system has changed from this race. The 2 session single lap aggregate system has been replaced with a single session single lap qualifying with the order determined by the finishing order from the previous race with the winner going out last

Takuma Sato and Jenson Button will be the first 2 to go out as they didn't race the the Monaco GP (due to the BAR Honda ban). Narain Karthikeyan will be the 3rd out while David Coulthard will be 4th and Patrick Friesacher will make up the first 5.

The cars will run this session with race fuel so expect the times to be slower than the times set last year as the cars have been slowed down by the regulations. The difference though won't be much!

And Sato is now on the track!
