it is hard to fence in kangaroo, tho. Ask the V8Supercar driver who hit one at Mt Panorama while doing 180kmh.
Fence out, rather

But yeah I understand. If one has truly bad luck s/he may hit an ice patch in the middle of summer. I remember having had to pull over because of pebble-sized hail in Dallas (Texas) in July where it's in the 90s most of the time...

Go figure.

Blood is messy stuff, and often carries infectious diseases. Not something I want coursing around my arteries

Said that da Matta is completely out of coma. Apparently he can walk and talk with minimal support and tries to regain his bearings. Hats off to that tough guy.

In case anyone's interested.....
ChampCar driver Cristiano da Matta continues to improve as he recovers from major head injuries suffered during testing at Road America back in early August; earlier this week, Shorty was moved to the rehabilitation center at Theda Clark Medical Center(Neenah, Wisc.). According to ChampCar's chief medical officer, Dr. Chris Pinderski,
Cristiano has continued to show excellent progress while recovering from his injury. He's been transferred to the rehab unit at Theda Clark Medical Center where he is participating in a very intensive rehabilitation regimen designed specfically for patients with significant head injuries.
All in all, the word is da Matta's continuing to recover from his injuries; according to all reports, they're hoping that, in the near future to continue da Matta's recovery in Miami, where he'll continue his rehab program.

According to his brother, Cristiano has had the bone replaced in his skull, recovered well from the surgery, and has been out for lunch and dinners. He expects Cristiano will leave hospital soon, to continue extensive rehab.

Here's a link to the article in question......

.....and a picture of da Matta enroute to his home in Miami......

He's one step ahead of you, Julian....According to the above article, Cristiano has left Theda Clark Medical Center and is currently returning to his home in Miami in order to continue his rehabilitation. Granted, he's lost 15 lbs., making him appear smaller than his 132-lb. frame appears, he has a Frankenstein-like scar on his head where they operated on him following his accident at Road America and doctors did confirm that da Matta lost a lot of short-term memory due to the accident, but he appears to be doing better than everyone had expected. Before he left the hospital today, he recorded the command for "Drivers, start your engines" which will be played at Sunday's ChampCar race. According to close friend and former PKV teammate Jimmy Vasser,
You just can't believe how much better he's gotten since I first came here. He is doing so well and its' just amazing to see his progress.
In other words......Shorty's doing a lot better than anyone anticipated, but he's still got a lot of rehabilitation to continue through. The important thing is that he is doing great at the moment. Let's all wish him the best of luck as he continues his recovery.
Note.......in the picture listed in the second link at the top of this post, from left to right.......Cristiano da Matta, Kelly Pettit(wife of PKV co-owner Dan Pettit), ChampCar Chief Medical Officer Dr. Chris Pinderski and(although all you see of him is his white-sleeved arm) Paul Gentilozzi.
