Both the Monty news, and the speculated changes to Friday practices (ie no 3rd drivers) could really upset the predictions for next year.
Currently some reasonably decent drivers still make a massive contribution as Friday drivers: ie Wurz, Davidson and Kubica in particular.
So these boys have to be in contention for Drivers next year, in addition to up and comers like Hamilton, Kovy.
I am expecting Wurz to get Webbers seat, and fingers crossed that this moves Webber to Renault. The only reason MW wont get the Renault seat is if Renault get a 1 year deal on Kimi before he moves to Ferrari. If this happens, either Red Bull or Toyota look to be a better option for MW than staying at Williams.
So, 3 vacant seats (Prodrive and Montys) with 5 up and comers.
Who will miss out?
Montagny definitely:- he ought to have put in a better showing against Sato by now.
Klien . . . there simply could be better drivers on offer for Red-Bull including MW, Ralf.
Its going to be an interesting few weeks!

Today's mighty oak is yesterdays nut that held its ground. . . there is hope for us all.
The wags are doing a lot of yakking about which rookie will partner Fernando Alonso, which leads me to speculate that Raikkonen is on the move. The fact that Sir Frankenstein offered Montoya his old gig back suggest Mark Webber is on the move. Here is my modified 2007 line up based on a Raikkonen move and Montoya's departure from F1:
McLaren = Alonso and Hamilton [RD is not afraid of occasionally putting the hopes of the team on the shoulders of a rookie]
Ferrari = M. Schumacher and Massa
Renault = Raikkonen and Fisichella
Toyota = Trulli and Webber
BMW Sauber = Heidfeld and J. Villeneuve [Both deserve to stay]
Red Bull = Coulthard and Liuzzi
Toro Rosso = Speed and Klein
Honda = Button and Barrichello [They'll give Jenso one last chance year]
Williams = Ralfie and Rosberg [As I said before, Sir Frankenstein & Co. are too stupid to put the ultra fast Alexander Wurz in the car. Man, I hope I'm wrong about that!]
Gary Paffett, who tests for McLaren and seems to think he is in a better position to get the number 2 seatover Lewis Hamilton, will take a ride with Midland.
Super Aguri will pull out all the stops to get Anthony Davidson, who just might take the gig after signing an option with his current team for Villeneuve's seat just to get race experience.
There is one spoiler, however. [Maybe two]
If Sebastien Bourdais and/or Dan Wheldon come over to race F1, one could end up in the other McLaren with the other going to Williams. I can see Dan Welldone going to McLaren to partner Alonso, but he is too smart to go to Williams in their current state of cluelessness. I don't believe he would go to another team unless it was Renault. SeaBass just may take up the Williams challenge. I could also see him go to Honda with JB crossing the Atlantic. Toyota is also a viable option.

There is a strong rumour that SeaBass is working on a Renault deal right now. He has nothing else left to prove in ChampCar except that wildman Paul Tracy damn near killed him about a month ago. He will only come back home if it is with a top team. Obviously, a Frenchman driving a Renault would be sooo delicious!!! There needs to be a good French driver in F1 again.
If this is true, where for art go Webbo? MW could go back to Red Bull [er, I mean Jaguar!]. Ferrari was interested at one point. If I were him, I'd rather partner Raikkonen than Schumacher! If Massa can't win this weekend's race, that could happen.
So ...
Ferrari = Raikkonen and Massa (?) or Webby
McLaren = Alonso and PDLR, LH or GP
Renault = Fisico and SeaBass (?) or Webby
Honda = Rubinho and Button (?) or Webby
Toyota = Trulli and RalfShoe
Red Bull = DC and Liuzzi (?) or Webby
BMW-Sauber = Heidfeld and RobixKubica
Toro Rosso = Speed and Klein
Midland = Doorknobs and Montagny
Williams = NockWurz and Rosburger

I think they are both staying in testing roles, with Zonta leaving Toyota to go to Renault to replace Hk.jacfan wrote:Is Zonta replacing the cute? Who is leaving Toyota? Trulli or Ralf?
