If two cars are line astern, and one car slides wide in something slippery, sure as god made little green apples, so will the second car......probably more so, as the driver of the second car is unsighted.
The commentators were down there at the track and verified it was something slippery didn't they
The second car was a fair way back and wasn't unsighted
Besides there were more than just two cars on the track and some of those other cars seemed to have managed to avoid the 'presumed' slipperiness of the track at that turn :!: :!:
Oh silly silly me, the commentators made it up so they could mention it several times, just for somethng to say.
I say the second car, in the incident I was referring to, was close enough to be unsighted. That is based on the speed, the angle of the nose of the car, the heat haze, and carbon dust from the car in front. Several other cars had "moments" following that incident. Given the track temp, which was 50deg plus, whatever was on the track would have dried shortly thereafter.
You have expressed your thoughts on the matter, I have expressed mine.
I see no need for further discussion on the matter, unless you wish to be bloody minded as usual.
Folks, take it easy. What's up with all the tension and animosity?

Not exactly. He went so slowly through turn one at the start that Schumi nearly drive into the back of him, which triggered the whole first corner schmozzle.

In my opinion Massa had nothing to do with the first corner schmoozle(to steal your phrase)....Sure he was going a tad slower, but it looked to me like Shumi was more intent on speargunning Alonso than getting by his teammate, which in turn got Alonso all crossed up, and Fisichella, trying to avoid the locked up Alonso, put it in a spin.......A spin that no doubt scared the overalls off him......Not many people can say it is fun to be facing the wrong way with 16 F1 cars flinging their way around you

I tend to agree with you. After watching the slo-mo I saw that Alonso, Schumi and Fisi all took off faster than Button and Massa. If it weren't for Schumi's attempt on Alonso Fisi would have gone right through and come side by side with Massa, even maybe passed him at turn 2.

The FIA have announced today that they will launch a full investigation into the podium ceremony of the Turkish Grand Prix. A statement by the FIA read:
The FIA has launched a full investigation into the circumstances in which Mr Mehmet Ali Talat was invited to present the winner?s trophy at the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix.

Political neutrality is fundamental to the FIA?s role as the governing body of international motor sport. No compromise or violation of this neutrality is acceptable.

The results of the investigation will be presented to the FIA World Motor Sport Council.

Mr. Mehmet Ali Talat was introduced as the President of the Turkish Cypriot state on TV. Greece has complained about this. Greece controls the southern part of the island.

We are reporting this as it was announced by the FIA, we have no intention of discussing (or encouraging the discussion of) the Cyprus conflict on these forums.
