Fernando Alonso has just done a stunning lap setting a time of 1:13.977

That is under half a second slower than the fastest time set in 2005 with V10 engines.

Raikkonen is second at the moment, 1.6 seconds behind!

There have been less red flags today!
Yeah, renault is flying there... :? now Fisi goes fastest with a 1'13.971 !... But as a Mclaren fan I'm worry at all!!! look at the lap-per-lap times and you'll understand why!! :D :D :D :D

Third day of testing at Barcelona and Jenson Button set the fastest time of the day just fractions ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso.

Those 3 have set stunning times that were within half a second of the best time set here last year with V10 engines.

Button's time was a 1:13.935 with Fisichella 0.035 seconds behind and Alonso a further 0.006 seconds behind.

All three set those laps on single lap runs (qualifying simulation)

Juan Pablo Montoya covered the most number of laps with 131.

There were a fewer number of red flags this session although both Toyotas stopped on the track.

Lap by lap times (in pdf)

At Imola, the test session continued to be hampered by rain. Villeneuve set the fastest time in the BMW Sauber ahead of Robert Kubica and Scott Speed. Villeneuve also completed the most number of laps.

Well done to Jenson.

I think most would love to see a closely fought season who ever the drivers are.

With Jenson though, I think it is just that Aussie - Pommie rivalry

That is an excellent time indeed. Lets hope Honda get their race strategies sorted unlike last year when they also set lap records in testing but seriously struggled at the start of the season.
