In relation to the safety car, the first time it was ever deployed was during the 1973 Canadian Grand Prix which Beltoise finished 4th.

As for the suspension, in 1971 he was involved in an accident which killed Ignazio Giunti in Buenos Aires. He was pushing his car as it ran out of fuel and Giunti ran into it
