S**t man I'm really happy! :D The reason I said what I said was that everybody was slating Fernando for trying to overtake! In MotoGP people used to avoid accidents and there was a lot of passing and repassing. It's changed a bit in MotoGP there are a few more loose canons and the riders are becoming more "professional".

I could take offence from a lot that is written about a lot of people. So I write things that I know will upset people! Lets face it I can't write about Lewis and tell you all I told you so, so what fun do I have left!? :?

 Not as strange as this comment, Julian! Hambone had another good finish, but let's not start shining his trophy just yet.

I'm not sure if the average F1 fan now could handle Formula 1 in, let's say, the 60s, 70, or 80s when I guy could win the championship on 3 wins. Everyone always talks about wanting to see more competition and less domination yet if certain top guys don't win every single race, they want to right that guy off immediately.

This weekend, all the sports press was yakking about Tiger Woods struggling to make the cut of some tournament and how this may be Phil Mickelson's time to take over. What??!? Pleazze! In his wildest dreams, Mickelson will never be as good as Tiger Woods. This is not to say he will never win a tournament against Woods in his career, however. Fernando is too young, and too successful to be flustered by Lewis Hamilton, with whom it is rumoured he gets on with extremely well.
My favourite Diver just won the 10metre Australasian championship......I have some trophys for the same event lying around in a sports bag somewhere...... I don't mix my sports........Hambone has broken a record held by Bruce McLaren  .......I have always said that Alonso is a very, very, good driver. No more, no less. IMHO Alonso would have been far better off to make the desperate lunge same place lap 2..........don't make the move the enemy expects 8)
I am amazed that Alonso did his fastest lap when all else was history.....Why bother?
How did that lap compare to DC's fastest lap......Massa's fastest lap? Satos' fastest lap?
I have enjoyed the company of many a Spaniard,.senors n senorita both.......for many years at the "Spanish Club", in Liverpool St, Sydney......because I enjoy it, and I cannot find a better Paella anywhere.
Last Year.....IMHGO....(Good)......Alonso was the best driver in the second best car......Schuey was the third best driver in the best car.......it is the changing of the guard.......even since last year .......Hail the new breed 8)
PAELLA!!?! Now you're talkin', JM!!! :D

:that:

I hear you on this point, but I am a bit less surprised. Kimi of late has not demonstrated the same singularness of purpose demonstrated by Alonso, Massa, or Hambone at this point. Alas, I am on this outside looking in and being a successful race car driver is as complicated as ever just dealing with you own car. Still I don't see him being the dominant or lead force on the team in the way Fernando is at McLaren and was at Renault. Massa seems to be emerging as the leader of Ferrari IMHO.

Kimi better wake up soon!

:D :D

Thanks, Snowy, for fessing up to stirring the pot. I'm embarrassed to have been caught.

What I'm hoping for this week is for Fernando to take Felipe out on the first lap in the principality: that would mean that ALL of the TOP FOUR, EXCEPT for Lewis would have a DNF in the first five races!

Or, wait a minute, change that: how about if Felipe takes out Fernando? that would be even better!!

I'm definitely NOT picking Lewis or Kimi to win this week (So far I'm ZERO for Four!). In other words, I'm returning to my last year's strategy of picking someone I hope will lose in order to feel better about not picking a winner afterwards.

I know, I know. I'm crazy.

 :burnout:

Julian: I actually picked DC for 7th in Monaco! So maybe a Red Bull IS in my future.

And the swamee sez:

A lot of us are choosing Hambone to get his first pole at Monaco for 8 'n' Pole. I predict an all McLaren first row leading with Hamilton and an all Ferrari second row leading with Massa (who is obviously faster than Raikkonen in the Ferrari). Heidfeld and Fisico will be next.

Raikkonen, who will be on the inside of the starting lineup going into the Saint Devote squeeze, will knock Massa, who will make a poorer start although recovering well, into the outside barrier causing all manner of speculation about the Finnish driver's future at the Scuderia.

Hamilton will give way to the charging Alonso at Saint Devote avoiding a similar fate a few yards further ahead. Webber and Kubica, who will be making great starts on the outside will get caught up in this mess. This will be a gift to Alonso, Hamilton, Fisichella, Rosberg and Heidfeld who will make it through with no incident. Rosberg will suffer a puncture which will put the kabash on his race. After replacing his damaged front wing, Raikkonen will come home a distant 5th passing Heikki Kovalainen on the last lap.
