No one man can make that kind of a difference to a team. Now more than ever it is the designers making the difference. Not the designer. Did Newey design the Ferrari or the Renault? I think too that RBR have too many big names in their camp. Might be there are not enough indians.RE30B#16 wrote:JayVee, you are forgetting that Red Bull now has the most successful car designer of the past 15 years in Adrian Newey. He has been responsible for nearly half of the championship winning cars during this period, and now he is at Red Bull! The RedBull chassis will be a contender next year. This was his first year with RBR, and if things go like they did when he went to McLaren after Williams, Red Bull cars will be winning by Monaco of next season. If they get a Renault engine, it will probably be sooner than that.JayVee wrote:Webber's move to Williams was seen as a major step forward.
Isn't it amazing that Red Bull have more points than Williams this season![]()

Bad luck to Webber. Problem with going back to Red Bull is thatI don't think they will have a winning car next year or even the year after.

Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.
One man has made that kind of difference. Newey designed almost every other car that has taken the WC during the "Schumacher era." His championship winning cars go back to Nigel Mansell's 1992 Williams. He redesigned the McLaren Mika Hakkinen won his 2 championships. Every car in which Michael Schumacher has taken to a title has been designed fully or in part by Rory Byrne. Only Alonso's Renault has been the exception.rah wrote:No one man can make that kind of a difference to a team. Now more than ever it is the designers making the difference. Not the designer. Don't get me wrong, I am sure he is a great designer and he has a great CV. But he hasn't designed a WDC winning car since Mika. There were times when one designer could make a difference, however they are gone. Now it is up to a large team to get the best car on the track. Head of design these days means you manage people.RE30B#16 wrote:One man has made that kind of difference. Newey designed almost every other car that has taken the WC during the "Schumacher era." Yours is a good point well taken, but Newey has done it so many times before with different teams. When the Red Bull is the car to have in a years time, remember who told you so. They are already ahead of Williams in points.rah wrote:Don't get me wrong, I am sure he is a great designer and he has a great CV. But he hasn't designed a WDC winning car since Mika. How many drivers in recent times have had to rebuild their careers after driving for Sir Frankenstein?
JV, Frentzen, Zanardi, Schruey Jr, Jenson Button, Hill, Patrese, JPM, what gives?
