I think the softer compound is again the worry for the teams. Even though Alonso set the fastest time, it appeared Hamilton was more consistent on the long runs on the softer compound.Snowy wrote:Kimi improves but stays fourth![]()
The tyres don't give very even performance do they Ed? Or is that my imagination?
Good to see just 1 second separating the 10.

I don't think Ferarri are sand-bagging; I think they're desperately trying to hold off Sauber and Williams, and have given the first row away entirely, focussing, instead, on some kind of race strategy, hoping to win in the pits or something.
Kimi, no one has said this, looked AWFUL. And, on the N. end at least, his engine sounded like one of the works engines they give to Spyker!
Felipe was game enough, but just JERKY through the N. set of turns, and didn't look even as smooth as Nick H.
I picked Kimi (because of his good record at Indy) to podium (3rd), but I have to say if he manages to do that, he'll deserve a raise.
Should be a good race; hopefully no repeat of last year's carnage (and probably not because I expect Fernando will have been taken aside by Ron and told to slot in behind Lewis). But by the end I expect the Mc/Merc's to be anywhere from 15 to 20 sec. ahead of the rest.
The racing, that is, will be for third step on the podium and the points after that.
By Magny Cours, it should be a normal season. No more chance of anyone challenging McLaren or their boys. Too bad; it would have been fun to keep the 3 or 4 way WDC race going.
But goodness. Having seen with me own two peepers, I have to agree with the journalists on this. Hamilton is a name that is going to stand with the truly great ones and if you have a chance to see him in his inaugural season you should take it: you'll be able to brag to your grandchildren!
Who would have thunk it: England on top again; we're going to get as used to Rule Britannia (twice!) as we were to the German and Italian anthems in the days of old.
See you at the race!!

Thanks Jim for your trackside post
I agree with you on Hamilton particularly in the first session however he did look a bit sloppy during the second. And he gets too close to that wall!!
I think apart from the McLaren's they were all sliding everywhere and Montreal and Indy were the tracks that worried McLaren
Qualifying should be good
