That is interesting although Villeneuve made his own decision to join BAR.RE30B#16 wrote:jacfan wrote:I just hope that Mark can end up with a better car.I'm in! A few years ago, I felt Webbey and Alonso were the two most promising drivers around. I hope he hasn't gotten the Williams curse.
How many drivers in recent times have had to rebuild their careers after driving for Sir Frankenstein?
JV, Frentzen, Zanardi, Schruey Jr, Jenson Button, Hill, Patrese, JPM, what gives?
Perhaps Coulthard survived

There is a lot of talk about Webber going to Renault, but what would attract them ? He has experience sure but Fisichella has that as well. Renault would either go with a proven race winner or take a calculated risk with Kovalainen.
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

Funny how you used to defend Williams slow times in testing in the past, now you are not happy with their slow pace. Finally convinced that Williams are going backwards fast ? It took you a really long time!!!Julian Mayo wrote:Etiquette ?JayVee wrote:Isn't that a Williams trademark in testingJulian Mayo wrote:The Williams was predictably slow on all 4 days at Jerez.

Not totally yet. Sam says they are going to regroup.JayVee wrote:Funny how you used to defend Williams slow times in testing in the past, now you are not happy with their slow pace. Admittedly Mark and I went..........

If I were Webby and there was a chance to get the Renault seat over staying at a floundering Williams, I'd take the Renault seat with the team that has won the constructor championship and produced the WC 2 years in a row that is run by my manager (slight conflict of interest).JayVee wrote:That is interesting although Villeneuve made his own decision to join BAR.RE30B#16 wrote:jacfan wrote:I just hope that Mark can end up with a better car.I'm in! The only real competition for the seat are the Finns [Kovalainen and Raikkonen]. He is in a better position IMHO than Kovalainen because of his time in the race car during races. He knows the circuits, but most importantly, he knows the way everyone else races.
You are right about JV and JPM leaving Williams voluntarily, but look at how all of these driver's careers floundered after their time with Williams. Hill, Coulthard and Frentzen are the only ones to have won races after leaving Williams. I believe Sir Frankenstein should sell the team and retire.

Webber would jump at the chance of driving for Renault. I was questioning the benefit to Renault given that they have signed Fisichella and I think Webber and Fisichella are comparable.RE30B#16 wrote:If I were Webby and there was a chance to get the Renault seat over staying at a floundering Williams, I'd take the Renault seat with the team that has won the constructor championship and produced the WC 2 years in a row that is run by my manager (slight conflict of interest).

He does have experience and that is a plus over Kovalainen but Kovalainen knows the car and the team and he is super quick.
I reckon Kovalainen would start regularly beating Fisichella before mid season but they would be too far behind in the championship by then!
It is a problem Renault have unless they have already signed Raikkonen

I dont think it would take that longJayVee wrote:

MW is also too tall to squeeze into the renault, one of the reasons it took him so long to find a drive in the first place.
