Wow!!! SO quiet. Nobody has anything to say????
Well I am naturally thrilled that Webber won... fantastic drive Mark.
It sure was an interesting race. Nice to know that Seb can fall asleep while racing. LOL boy did he look pissed off in the post race interviews.
It will be very interesting to see what happens to MS.. back to his old tricks.
Maybe no one actually watched the race or did I dream the whole thing????
Oh well.... alone again naturally.

I backed Petrov for the best drive of the day. Fifth is a great result, and if he can continue in that sort of form, or close to it, he'll probably keep the seat. [That said, he knows the track well and it's suited to the Renault].
I missed the specific bit where Vettel apparently did something wrong. It seems from what I've gathered that it was a strange penalty, and probably undeserved.
Kudos to Alonso for managing to moan in a press conference following an incredibly lucky second place. Takes a special sort of miseryguts to do that sort of thing.
Incidentally, Schumacher's gotten a 10 place grid penalty at Spa for his defensive manoeuvre/murder attempt on Barrichello.
Quite an eventful race, despite the lack of overtaking at the sharp end. Kobayashi did brilliantly well to climb from 23rd to 9th.

Incidentally, Ferrari and Red Bull could lose an advantage soon. The FIA are introducing a new set of tests on the front wing, which could lead to the flexi-wing being deemed non-compliant with the regulations.
I do have a link but because I'm new I can't post. It's in the gossip section of the BBC F1 website.

Welcome Thaddeus,
I saw the incident which led to SV's penalty, he got caught out simple as that, he wasn't paying attention & put too much of a gap between himself & MW. & he didn't just do it once. He also could have been penalised for entering the pits incorrectly as well. The penalty may seem harsh but it was definitely justified.
SV should have wrapped up the WDC already. He may be the quickest driver but he definitely isn't the BEST! he has made some horrible mistakes this year. if he ever gets his head screwed on straight he will be one of the best ever but at present his arrogance & lack of application is costing him dearly.

Welcome.
I had to go for Webbo, because that took a lot of skill to wring those times out of those tyres for so many laps. I would have liked to vote for 3 drivers,
Petrov, and The Barra for keeping the boot in to it no matter how close he was pushed to the wall !!
Schumaker should have his superlicence revoked.

Thanks for the welcome, chaps
Bundy, I must disagree regarding Vettel. He has made some mistakes and would otherwise lead the championship race. However, his Achilles' heel is not personal inconsistency but the unreliability (especially early on) of his car. The puncture at Silverstone was misfortune, and he should've won all three of the initial races.

Having bitched about Ferrari's behaviour in Germany despite the fact that the 'no team orders' rule is pretty stupid and pretty much unenforceable, it would be quite wrong of me not to admit that Vettel did break the rules. So instead I shall simply be totally ungracious and suggest that if it had been Alonso, there'd probably have been a small fine rather than a penalty that clearly affected the points standing at the end of the race.
My wife being away, I watched the race in the pub with friends, and I wasn't the only one to think of Monty Python's "Spiny Norman" ('...he had to nail my head to the floor, I had transgressed the unwritten rule...'), since none of us had any idea that such a rule existed.
But, on the plus side, Petrov is certainly one to watch; I voted for him, and as a Lotus fan from way back when, it was good to see both cars finish.

Sah, I salute you. Petrov is a driven man, his car control is as good as the best. He has been in situations (places off the track) where other guys would have been walking back to the pits. The next season, and his drive will tell all. I do hope Renault stick with him Now would you be so kind as to take the 12 inch spike from my head, driven there when Webber did not pit, and my Partner decided I needed severe restraint before she went to bed saying "Webbo will win" as she did so. There is only so much to be gained by intensive close scruitiny of the whorls in a polished floorboard........sigh. Were we the only two to instantly realize this was Webbos chance to jump Alonso and Vettel? We thought Vettel was going to get a penalty for an illegal pit entry, then gifting Webbo the race IF those little round rubber bits held together for twenty laps.

My DotD was Mark. First of because he is so darn cute (heheh)

and then of course for a fantastic performance. We thought the safety car was going to work against him but he put in fantastic lap after lap and came out on top.

I am starting to liken him to Kimi

My definition of the Best Driver.
The guy who wins by the smallest margin, while being in control of the race.
Vettel has a long, long way to go.
