After what was a fairly quiet FP1 where we had a momentary virtual safety car for debris on the track, FP2 started with a bang.
Charles Leclerc lost his Ferrari on the exit of turn 4 with his car bouncing off the inside fencing. The car went in rear first and then bounced the left side off the barriers.
Within 5 minutes of the session resuming, Zhou Guanyu had a similar incident in the same turn only this time spun towards the entry of turn 5. Sergio Perez must have heard the tyres breaking adhesion as he took evasive action and watched the spinning Sauber pass by on his right.

Q1 started following a downpour from near the end of the F2 race until almost the start of the session.
Sergio Perez hit the barriers bringing out the red flags. He was inside the top ten when it occurred but a late flurry of quick times pushed him down to 16th.
George Russell struggled with his Mercedes and failed to progress through to Q2.
Alpine made the wrong decision not to send their drivers out in the final minutes and both failed to progress.
Q2 looked done and dusted until Daniel Ricciardo, in the final moments of the session, found grip on the drying track and topped the times.
Q3 again started with the threat of rain so all teams sent their drivers out early to set a time. The final runs commenced and Yuki Tsunoda lost his RB bringing out the red flags again, this time with 2 1/2 minutes remaining. The McLarens lined up early and used their out laps to control just who would get a chance to improve. Only the first 6 cars made it round before the chequered flag dropped. Of those, only Daniel Ricciardo set a time that was better than earlier runs.
With basically .05 seconds covering the top 3, we are looking at an exciting race!
