Best car to drive and why
Hi all, just wondering what car you have enjoyed driving and why. I am not asking what car you think is the best, I want to know what car you have gotten into and really enjoyed driving. Doesn't have to be the fastest, just the most fun.
Most of mine would be some of the older cars. They just seem to have more personality.
Some of mine are:
1750cc Afla Romeo 105 GTV: was just so much fun to chuck around
Peugot 203: Hey it won a reddex trial after all. And the steering was almost like a go cart.
Mini Moke: Don't knock it till you have tried it. I defy anyone to drive one without a smile on your face. People in cold climates excepted of course.
MkII Jag: was only fun to drive when you got over 80km/h
There are others that were great to drive, but they were not a challenge.

Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

Old stuff
403 pug, one of the quickest point to point "normal" cars of the time.
Moke, as you say.
mini-cooper, obvious reasons
fiat 850 fastback with Abarth kit, great fun
ford anglia with lotus twincam, bloody quick, and "on rails" handling.
mk2 mgb, wind in the hair n bugs in the teeth
E-type jaguar, ahh what a car.

Is that like 10 times the power of my car ?Julian Mayo wrote:The Buggati Veyron has been released. It produces 1001 horsepower.Drool.
But I bet it is like 100 times more expensive.
No thanks, a Megane would be enough for me (when I can afford it)
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

The fastest, scariest, funnest car to drive was the old Renault 5 Turbo!
I had a friend in college who had one, decided to get rid of it because he was afraid to die in it, then bought a Ferrari 308!! The Renault was faster and drove almost like a race kart. His Ferrari was kinda like a Corvette on steroids. I loved the mid engine setup though.
I had another friend who had a Pantera. That thing accelerated like nothing else. Now that was a car that felt like you might die in it. My friend's parents felt so too and convinced him to sell it. Mistake!!
I had a Renault GTA (Alliance) which produced about 185bhp. Tommy and Bobby Archer used to race them in SCCA's Champion Spark Plug Challenge. That thing was a blast to drive. It had so much torque, I kept breaking motor mounts!! The motor mounts on it were die cast!!! Crazy!! Wish I still had that one.
I test drove a Fiat X/19 once thinking I might buy one. That car was a gas to drive. It also drove like a race kart or a Formula 3 car, but American winters would reduce Fiats to ash!
The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a great drivers car for cheap. I've driven a current BMW 5-series. That car is awesome so I would imagine the ultimate might be a BMW M3. The new Nissan 350Z looks like it would also be a dream to drive for not so crazy bucks.
Probably, the most gratifying car I've ever driven was the last Mazda RX-7. Perfect power to weight ratio. Great braking. Steering from heaven. Driving it, you felt like the car was a part of you. Easily, the best car I've ever driven.
