The Super Aguri F1 SA05 made its official track debut at the Barcelona track on Tuesday.

Takuma Sato completed 10 laps as the team struggled with a hydraulics problem. Sato also spun in the afternoon on the wet track but didn't damage the car.

Mark Preston, Chief Technical Officer said:
The priority of this test was to begin track testing of the SA05 systems - including electronics, hydraulics and brakes. Although our reliability was not great today, it is the reason why we are here, to test and sort these kinds of problems out.

This morning?s running was cut short due to a small hydraulic problem which was soon rectified. However, in the rain-drenched afternoon, Taku spun at the hairpin, with no damage to the car, while experimenting with new traction control software. This afternoon?s running was cut short by a similar problem to the one we had this morning. We will now be working overnight and are hoping for a successful day?s running tomorrow when we start our tyre programme for Bahrain.
Second driver Yuji Ide was present but didn't take to the track.

With a 3 year old car and a Sato - there has to be a strong possibility of carnage. Its a big call trying to get up and running the way they have.

Apart from making it comply with the aero regs for this year as well as the safety requirements. It is the 2002 Arrows.

Here is an image of the A23 (courtesy StatsF1) and the SA05 again underneath for comparison

Thanks Ed.

They have just changed the colour...
I just hope its safe.

Ed,what happens if Super Aguri is not in the 110% time, which i think they would not be considering they have 3 yr old chassis

If it doesn't pass the crash test, it won't race.

The 110% Qualifying rule doesn't apply any more. It was scrapped since single lap qualifying was introduced and haven't seen anything official about its return this year.

If they are slow, they will simply be eliminated in the first 6.

I wonder what kind of driver Yuji Ide is. If he's even half decent, I'm sure Sato will do anything to ensure he doesn't get showed up. Imagine that, a great tussle at the back for last and 2nd last place! Hope they take each other out before the rest of the pack catches up to them...

Not sure how Sato would feel having to let people lap him, especially not after he was the one doing it before.

I reckon the B teams for Toyota and Honda will be fighting for 10th and it will be very interesting to watch.

Sorry, maybe I should stick to proper English. I meant, if Ide is any good, I'm sure Sato would never let the guy make him look bad...
