Cosworth the most powerful engine on the grid

Post by Snowy » Sat Feb 18, 2006 7:19 am

I have just read that Cosworth is reckoned to be the most powerful engine out there!
F1 magazine also reckons Mercedes has the least horsepower!
I Quote
'Mercedes' 2.4 V8 engine is estimated to be revving a maximum of just 710bhp, Cosworth's is apparently reaching 745bhp, with Ferrari and Honda at 730bhp'

But of course the times set today(or was that yesterday)... on Friday by Mclaren would seem to cast doubt on that. But as someone rightly pointed out somewhere (perhaps another thread) can they make the engine last two races on the trot? :burnout:

It would be perfectly in keeping with jenson's management skills if yet again he has opted for the wrong team at the wrong time! :o :bounceg:

Things seem to be looking pretty good for the car in testing. Williams are amongst the top teams setting fastest times quite often. And this includes reliability too! Mayhap JM, we were a little conservative in where we think they'll finish?

Cosworth are said to be very happy with the series 2 engine which Nico began testing last week. Both cars will have the series 2 this week, which is being used to prove components for the race engines, currently being built.

They seem to have made it reliable for the last couple of long runs. I don't put too much weight on testing, surely it is a time when you try to make things break, to find out the limits. If a team is at or about the pace that is all I care about, unless engines start exploding with monotonous regularity on short runs. 8)
