Hi all,
Thank you for the support. Now we are going througth the rehab process, which is very hard and long. But Cristiano has been teaching me how to focus and keep calm even in those most difficult moments.
He's been busy the whole day, going to physical therapy to bounce back to his athletic form, and also speech therapy to get his brain working normally. Resting well also plays a big part in his way back to full recovery.
Since last week he started to train on his stationary bike, he is doing 30 to 40-minute rides. He is also playing guitar, developing coordenation, concentration, creativity and much more, although play with his band is still to loud for him.
Most important is that his amazing spirit, personality and smile are the same. He is still a little confused but knows very well what happened to him, he is pushing very much.
Best regards!
Gustavo da Matta

According to the above article, Cristiano da Matta is continuing his recovery back in his hometown of Belo Horizonte, Brazil and says he's almost 100%; he also says in the article that he wants to return to racing. About the only thing he can't do at the moment is go mountain-bike riding, for fear that he might suffer another head injury. Da Matta also said in the article that he plans on doing some karting activities when 2007 rolls around.![]()

As long as you're making progress towards a full and complete recovery, Shorty, take as much time as you need; we'll be rooting for you. They don't want me to be exposed to any risk. They worry about how my brain would react to the slightest impact. And I'm not the one who is going to take risks after coming back from where I came from.
He's one tough dude for sure. I wouldn't blame him either if he chose not to race anymore but he's bitten by the race-bug and I think he'll want to be back and smell the asphalt once more in the futurejacfan wrote:I am just pleased that he is well and living happily. I personally would not blame him if he never raced again but that is his call not mine.
