Things would be different if Barra had wanted to have a crack at a fast lap.But he doesnt need to show off. He doesnt have an image problem.

DC will be spewing !Ed wrote:Final day of testing at Barcelona is underway. 5 teams and 10 drivers are present.
At this stage Christian Klien in the Red Bull is the fastest with a 1:14.613 just ahead of Fisichella with Barrichello in 3rd.
The Toyota of Ralf Schumacher stopped on the track earlier. David Coulthard is also having problem having completed just a single lap so far.
Davidson in the Honda has covered the most laps so far with 70!
Air temp is a low 6 degrees while track temp is 9 degrees

Giancarlo Fisichella - 1:13.971 (second fastest time overall at Barcelona this week)I had a good two days of running this week to finish off my winter testing programme. Reliability was once again very strong enabling us to complete a lot of laps, particularly on Thursday when we concentrated on chassis set-up and tyre evaluations. It was nice to finish at the top of the timesheets on my final day in the car before Bahrain. I'm really looking forward to the start of the season and think that we will be competitive although we won't know until we start running in Bahrain where we stand in relation to the other top teams. It's really exciting to think that the season starts in only two weeks time and I can't wait to start racing again.
Fernando Alonso - 1:13.977 (third fastest time overall at Barcelona this week)I am pleased with my week. I feel like we have worked well, and made good progress with the car. We have been quick, and I am pleased with my lap-times this week. I now want to go racing again, and start the championship.
Rubens Barrichello - 1:14.266 (fourth fastest time overall at Barcelona this week)We have had an important and productive week. We made good progress for the first race, and now I want to see how we will perform in race conditions against the competition. I am feeling confident, the car is performing well and the team is more motivated than ever.
Juan Pablo Montoya - 1:14.588 (fifth fastest time overall at Barcelona this week)It was really good for me to get three days testing in the car this week and the team has done a superb job, particularly with the engine as we were able to cover a lot of kilometres which makes me feel very comfortable going into the first race. I had some issues on Wednesday with the brakes but we were able to resolve this and overall the test was very positive. The pace of the car has been improving every day, along with the reliability and with the amount of laps we can cover, this has given me more time to become familiar with the car. I feel happy with the car and am really looking forward to my first race as a Honda Racing F1 Team driver.
Christian Klien was the only other driver to set a time below the 1:15 mark in Barcelona this week. We've done a lot of good work this week, there have been a few problems with the wet weather and a couple of small glitches with the car, but generally it has been a productive week. It has also been quite cold here in Barcelona, which means that you aren't getting the full performance, and also everyone is testing different things. So it is difficult to compare the performances of the teams testing here during the week.
Renault - Christian Silk, Chief Test EngineerThis week has been a very satisfying conclusion to our pre-season
preparations with the race drivers. We have completed over 2900km over the three days with excellent reliability and successfully used two of the
latest specification RA806E engines to over the target two-race mileage. We have found some positive directions with the chassis set-up today and
overall are pleased with the performance in the very cold conditions here.
Toyota - Pascal Vasselon, General Manager Car Design and DevelopmentThis was a very important week in terms of the results we obtained. Once again, the cars ran extremely well without any major technical incidents, and the drivers are pleased with the car's performance. The entire race team was present today for pit-stop practice, which was an important step and went without a hitch. There are two more days of testing at Valencia next week, and then we will have the opportunity to see exactly what we are capable of in race conditions.
Cosworth - Simon Corbyn, Head of F1 Race EngineeringWe have been fortunate here with the weather conditions, as we were actually expecting rain, so in fact it gave us the opportunity to finalize some decisions for the first race, including the tyre choice. We have a very good idea of what we will run in Bahrain. Among these three days we have had some interesting results and could therefore make straightforward decisions to even see what we would run at the race in Barcelona later in the season. In the end, I can only say that year after year it is difficult to draw conclusions from pre-season testing, but we are definitely pleased that we have achieved so much throughout the whole winter.
Super Aguri - Mark Preston, Chief Technical OfficerCosworth completed this week?s Barcelona test in reasonable shape. The first day was difficult as we had to stop running Mark?s primary Series 2 test engine when it developed a leak which couldn?t be fixed trackside. In addition, Nico suffered an engine failure, although this was at high mileage and was an earlier spec engine. Fortunately, the remainder of the test was rather less eventful as Alex successfully exceeded the two race weekend target mileage on his Series 2 engine, plus we were able to complete valuable engine calibration work in preparation for Bahrain.
The team has delivered more than anyone imagined possible before we came to Barcelona and this makes us confident that our performance in Bahrain will be acceptable. Yuji performed well during his first F1 test and Taku has been pushing hard to increase the performance of the car. These three days have helped to gel the team together, and that includes both the SUPER AGURI FORMULA 1 and Honda personnel, who have been central in our getting to this test. The engine performed faultlessly, which is a good indicator of our reliability for the first race. The test fulfilled our requirements and we were able to solve a number of systems-related issues. By the third day the car ran reliably all morning, allowing us to begin a programme of performance evaluations. Part of these evaluations allowed us to run our Bridgestone tyres for Bahrain and we are happy with the choice that we have made.
Overall the team is tired following a week of very hard work, but amazingly we have achieved all of our goals and we are now looking forward to ?ticking the next box? on the list ? our test at Silverstone next week.
