Ross Brawn has quit Ferrari!

That's quite a blow to Kimi's asperations wouldn't you say?

It doesn't surprise me

but it was kept under wraps for long enough for me to believe Kimi was gonna have a good season. I will have to review my tips for 2007

That is a suprise announcement in a sense that it was widely believed that Ross Brawn was going to take just a year off!

Also it is worth noting that when Michael announced his retirement it was announced that he will be taking a new role with Ferrari

At the end of the year, as is traditional, we will announce the new team organisation, which will also include a definition of Michael?s new role

That new role hasn't been defined yet.

Following up on Julian's comments, could Brawn and Michael be planning their own team in a few years ?

There is, goes by the name of Mick, but he is just 7 right now, and rumoured to be a SUPER quick go-kart racer.

Following up on Michael's future role with Ferrari, President Luca Montezemolo indicated that Michael would be a super assistant to Jean Todt however Michael claimed that he has yet to decide what he will do. He said:

I can't say anything precise about what I will do - I don't want to define my role inside Ferrari yet.
I will take a break in the coming months and then I will be more clear about what I want to do. Ferrari have left me free to decide and have given me the time that I need to make up my mind.

Additionally Ross Brawn could be returning to Ferrari in a year's time. Ferrari President Luca Montezemolo said:

Ross has decided to take a sabbatical but I hope it's not for too long. Ross and Ferrari are not yet finished.
