Davidson confirmed with Super Aguri

Post by Ed » Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:42 pm

Honda test driver Anthony Davidson gets a race drive with the Super Aguri team in 2007.

Anthony Davidson will partner Takuma Sato.

Anthony Davidson said:
This is a great opportunity for me and I'm really excited about my first full season as a race driver in Formula One. I'd like to thank everyone at the SUPER AGURI F1 TEAM and Honda for giving me this chance. I'm looking forward to working with everyone at SAF1 - I've been impressed with the improvements the team has made through the 2006 season, and I can already see from my first visits to the factory that the team is very hard-working and highly motivated. I can't wait to get started!
Aguri Suzuki said:
I am delighted to have Takuma and Anthony as our drivers for next year. Takuma performed outstandingly in our first year and I hope that he will be able to build on this with us next year. As you know, Anthony has been with Honda as a test driver for a while now and he brings to us a wealth of experience in Formula One. I believe that he will make a positive impact on the team and that he will fit into the family atmosphere that we have at SUPER AGURI F1 TEAM perfectly. I am looking forward to seeing both our drivers rising to the challenge in the 2007 season.

Sato made mince meat of him in British F3 they were team mates if you recall 8) If Taku shows him a clean pair of heals you're going to have to eat even more of that nasty tasting humble Jenson pie.

Ok. Truce then.

My apologies particularly to you JM. By assuming that you were implying a negative effect upon Taku's abilities I have offended you. In my defence I have to say that Taku has taken a lot of stick not just from people on this forum but from all over the place. Many have forgotten his tenacity and bravery and only recall his over ambition and over driving. Few have credited that he was up against a team mate who could actually make a quite ordinary and sometimes recalcitrant car appear quite good. When Ruben's tried to drive it he found it was impossible to drive anywhere near the limit. When eventually they sorted out the problems he still found that Jenson was much quicker than him.

Again I apologise JM I just assumed the worst and took the opportunity to try to put another spin on it. I hope that Antony and Taku both do well and I also hope that one day Jenson's ability behind the wheel is put in a proper perspective for better or for worse.

The fact that Jenson has performed so well should be enough for me and I should learn to keep my mouth shut

Philosophical approach. Any additional words on Davidson for sake of saving the thread?

Not a single offence taken Snowy, my friend. I merely wished to emphasise my point  I too am enamoured of Sato's unbridled courage, but not of his ability to "overdrive" unnecessarily, which I sometimes think he does because he feels the pressure of honouring Nippon. I repeat myself by saying that any driver who survives more than 1 season in F1 has my respect..........(except Ralf  ) The F1 car is not an easy vehicle to drive at ten tenths. 8)

Your assumption did, you did not. Had you looked at my post from a different perspective, you may have seen it as meaning that his, Sato's brilliance would now be underlined. That would have been equally incorrect. It was a plain statement, to be taken at face value.
I like pointy icons, you did not offend me, I am also addicted to stawberry/vodka and JacFans heart shaped upper lip, and sensuous full lower lip
