Downtime!

Post by Tim » Sat Dec 09, 2006 4:12 pm

We apologise to everyone for the extended downtime experienced over the last 24 hours.

The good news is that we are back up, the bad news is that a few posts have been lost.

The hosting company had to rebuild the server and restore the database. This unfortunately has resulted in some posts getting lost.

We understand that this is not acceptable and we will be looking at a number of options going forward.

Once again apologies for this and hopefully this won't be repeated.

We believe all posts since around 12:30 PM on Friday the 8th of December were unfortunately lost.

We are told some could be recovered but we aren't very confident of that happening to be honest.

Apologies again!

Your belief appears to be spot on

No one here will be blaming you guys. It is unfortunately the nature of the beast and it is hard to blame anyone really. Just frustrating.

That is very nice of you jacfan and yes it is very frustrating however we do expect a better service and that is what we will be looking for, be it with the current host or another.

We have been told that the server is still being restored. So for the next two to three hours we may experience some small outages.
This could mean that some of the lost posts may be recovered. (A small chance maybe  )

It is very quiet here at the moment so I don't think it will affect many.
More of a hassle for you and Ed.

See, the server couldn't handle the shiny new Cabinet I had installed :)

Joke aside, I second jacfan's sentiments. Don't care if every last one my messages get lost as long as this nice forum keeps going... You guys are doing more than most would even dream of. Heads up, chins high!
