Calls for 2007 pre-season predictions

Post by JayVee » Fri Jan 19, 2007 11:59 am

Following what BlinkyBill started last season, this is a prediction thread for 2007 :D (I hope BlinkyBill doesn't mind!)

Ok Folks - Melbourne is WAY too far away, and with most teams on or near testing their 07 cars. . . I thought it was time to engage in some serious 2007 predictions.

So:

I am throwing out the call for pre-season constructors and drivers tips, in order.

Dont worry about the whole field, but perhaps top 7 cars, top 10 - 12 drivers.

As a recap for 06:

Constructors

1. Renault
2. Ferrari
3. McLaren
4. Honda
5. BMW Sauber
6. Toyota
7. Red Bull
8. Williams

Drivers (less those not racing in 07)

1 Alonso
2 Massa
3 Fisichella
4 Raikkonen
5 Button
6 Barrichello
7 Heidfeld
8 Schumacher
9 Trulli
10 Coulthard
11 Webber
12 Kubica
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

Found it....
Ok here is my revised list....

Drivers
Massa
Alonso
Kimi
Hamilton
Webber
Kubica
Button
Ralf
Now the two Renault drivers... Fisi has not done a lot in the past and I can't see that changing. Kovalainen I know nothing about but it would be hard to imagine him doing anything spectacular in his first year.... I could be proven wrong.

As for Williams... Well that is a hard call... Williams have not been very competive of recent years.. not to say that can't/won't change. I like Wurz, I don't think he we be challenging for the title this year but he could score points. Rosberg ??? Hasn't been consistent enough yet.

I must stress that these are only my personal opinions and even though I love F1 I doubt that my knowledge of the sport would be anywhere near half of the other members here.

Your faith in the Finns is admirable :) BTW with both RBR drivers above their Toyota counterparts it is not very likely (except that they change drivers mid-season) that Toyota will finish above RBR in the constructors.

Looks like we already have a good mix :D

I know it is a bit early for the drivers but I suppose we can all change our minds (or the method of random picking  )

Well, lets see, on a mechanical basis, leaving driver ability to the side,......
IF the RB is quick out of the box, they could jump up a couple of rungs,
McLaren had a shocker by their standards, how quickly can they recover, they COULD slide a couple
Ant is setting some quick times in the SA, but its early days
If its the car SA Could jump way up,
Renault have a tried n true product.....if they meddle too much they could slide way down (if it aint broke don't fix it)
Ferrari have Bridgestone experience, that it will help in the first couple of races, and it could be a very tight comp
BMW will be way up there imho,
Toyota???? they shoot themselves in the foot too often, for my liking.
Williams will fight with Toyota, this must be make or break for SF, surely?
Maybe it would be easier to work out who will be last
I think an aspro and a little lay down are in order for me.
