Why drama?

Post by RE30B#16 » Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:07 pm

In our ridiculously cowardly world of internet creeps, reality show nit wits, and astonishingly incompetent and self-serving world leaders, I shouldn't be surprised at this, but why must every situation deteriorate into chaos? Why must every partnership end in acrimony?

Why this topic? Well, the pundit are all predicting a meltdown at McLaren with between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton already! I did suggest that Lewis Hamilton has become the top Brit in F1, but this was based on his stellar early performance balanced against the relative lack of performance from the current top Brit, Jenson Button.

Most people who have a reasonable memory will say, well, what about Prost and Senna? The truth is Alain Prost is the one who had the history of bad blood between him and others, not Ayrton Senna. In truth, there have been many more successful partnerships in F1 than bad ones. (Most of the bad ones in the last 2 decades have involved Alain Prost! Really, I don't mean to sound like a Prost hater. I'll leave that to Senna, Mansell, Lauda, Arnoux, and Ron Dennis!) I've read Carlos Reutemann was a difficult teammate. (Lauda is on his hater list too!)

Ron Dennis said in a recent interview that he is enjoying his time as a team principle most now because he loves his young drivers. We all know of the difficulty he had with JP Montoya and his relationship with the "ice man" Kimi Raikkonen never warmed up past tepid. Fernando Alonso seems to have that special kind of affability that allows him to "win over" his team. Love him or hate him, Michael Schumacher had that same quality. It seems Lewis Hamilton possesses it as well. The good news (for us) is that both of these youngsters relish stiff competition. They are not intimidated by one another. They are competitors in the mold of Tiger Woods.

I really don't need to read this kind of junk reporting. (Don't worry, usually I don't, but I got caught by one of those misleading headlines, and it pissed me off! There was no story, just utter junk.) 20 years ago, you couldn't get any newspaper editor worth his salt to publish an article based purely on speculation unless it was on the editorial page. Now everything must be sensational or infamous. I don't need the sport reduced to being some sort of whack soap opera!!

End of diatribe... for now! :x

I tend not to read this sort of crap because it is such a load of BS. I am sure half the "info" we get now is just mad up and then picked up by other idiots as "fact". Anyone with half a brain will be aware of this and take no notice of these rumours. :D :D :D
