Predict Pole Time - 2007 Japanese Grand Prix

Post by Tim » Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:34 am

Predict the Pole Time for the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix

Go ahead and have a crack at the fastest times from the 3 sessions of Qualifying or just the Pole time (fastest time in the 3rd session) and lets see who can be closest at Fuji.

If someone gets a perfect match or near perfect (+/- 0.1 seconds) for 1 time, we'll give away a prize. (A choice between an Digital Alarm Clock and a Stopwatch).
And an even better prize if you get a perfect match or near perfect (+/- 0.1 seconds) for 2 times (A USD $100 instant gift certificate or equavilent from a choice of suppliers!) and better still if you get a perfect match or near perfect (+/- 0.1 seconds) for 3 times (A USD $250 instant gift certificate or equavilent from a choice of suppliers!)
For each of the above, getting the correct driver adds a bonus gift.

Please include the time to the 1000's of a second and the driver. You can if you wish include a wet time as well

Please note that this is a new track and Formula 1 cars have not tested there.
The predicted fastest lap time is around 1:15 seconds

Good luck everyone!

The Fine Print
One entry (dry and wet) per user with one change per condition allowed. Entries close prior to the start of first practice on Friday
The winner will be the one who manages to predict the closest time(s). You need to be within 0.1 seconds of the fastest times to be declared the winner.
In the case of two players predicting the same time(s) and driver(s), the player who submitted earlier will be the winner.
Changing time(s) and/or driver(s) is allowed only once and the change cannot be a max or min to try and gain advantage (eg. if the fastest time posted is a 1:45.345, a player cannot change their time to a time above that)

dry:
S1 - 1:15.847 - Schumacher
S2 - 1:14.947 - Alonso
S3 - 1:15.275 - Räikkönen

wet:
S1 - 1:23.710 - Coulthard
S2 - 1:22.190 - Alonso
S3 - 1:22.447 - Räikkönen

For the record, the allowable margin of error should be larger (+/- .250?) since there is no F1 data for this track.

Actual Fastest Qualifying times were:

S1 - 1:25.359 by Felipe Massa
S2 - 1:24.753 by Lewis Hamilton
S3 - 1:25.368 by Lewis Hamilton

The times were wet times and are too far from what the players put it.
czekmate was the exception and did put in wet times however they were around a second and a half quicker than the actual times.
Good try though
