bar-honda

Post by Julian Mayo » Sat May 07, 2005 9:54 am

Bar -honda recently tested at Mugello. The car lapped faster than the times set recently by schumaker in the ferrari. The interesting fact is that it was the 2006 V8 in a prototype chassis. I thought the idea of introducing V8s was to slow the cars down

Julian, BAR Honda tested a prototype chassis at Mugello however I won't assume they set the fastest time in it.

The BAR statement read
...whilst Anthony Davidson and Enrique Bernoldi each worked on split programmes with the 007 and a prototype chassis evaluating developments for the 2006 regulations
It isn't clear from the times released that the fastest time Davidson set was in the prototype. It usually takes a while for a new prototype to be on the pace.

I was quoting Grandprix.com. The article stated "........Anthony Davidson set a time 2 one hundredths faster than Takumo Sato, and ahead of the ferraris of Barrichello and Schumaker....."
I assume they meant on the day. Whatever, it seems pretty quick out of the box

Yes Julian Anthony did set the fastest time on that day however he drove both the BAR007 and the prototype and I suspect it is an assumption that he set the fastest time driving for the prototype. I actually doubt that

From BAR
Anthony successfully ran through his full test programme and set the fastest time of the day - a 1m 20.652

....

Due to the nature of our development programme this week and in total respect of our testing agreement with the other eight teams, both Anthony yesterday and Enrique today, had to combine work in two different chassis, which is a credit to them
Whether they did set the fastest time in the V8 or not, it does appear that they are well advanced in the development of that engine.

If Davidson was not in the V8, wander over to GP>com and give them a thump over the ear for misleading journalism, would you

look what I foud:

Beleaguered BAR debuted a prototype 2.4 litre Honda V8 engine at last week's Mugello test.
The unit, in a modified F1 car steered by Anthony Davidson and Enrique Bernoldi, lapped about four seconds off the pace of a current V10, Autosport magazine said.

Yes, I hope the other teams are on the boil, or it could be a BAR 1-2 in 2006.
Mind you Williams have probably got a heap of old cosworth v8s lying around out the back. If not, I'm going to put extra security on my ute  where has that bloody snake gone now, just when you need it...

BAR-Honda got to become BAR-None :) But I believe they will disturb the top three more than ever in 2007.
